Many atheists say that the bible is the book that pushed them over the edge from religious belief to atheism. If you can stomach it, it probably is a good place to start.
Atheism is a state of being, not a point of view.
I'm sure there are many good books that can be found with a simple google search or even a few moments on Wikipedia might help.
Common sense is all you really need.
I have read "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens, "The God Delusion" and "The Magic of Reality" by Richard Dawkins, "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris (and his short book "Letter To A Christian Nation").
And they are all great books, well worth reading.
I'm planning to read "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins, to get a better understanding of the concept.
If I get interested enough in debates about morality I'm going to read "The Moral Landscape" by Sam Harris.
They all have a lot of information other than books as well, like debates and lectures that can be found on youtube.
Lately, I have been keeping an eye on Peter Boghossian, who seems to be a very rational, mature and pedagogic person.
Thanks, I'll look into those quite soon. Also I have been watching some videos of the friendly atheist (The Atheist Voice) pretty cool guy.
