I can thoroughly recommend "The Ark Before Noah "..... by Irving Finkel.....
A little "dry" (lots of detail about the discovery & translations of Baylonian library texts..)but very interesting especially when they get to the reconstruction and test sailing of an Ark...… but not as you know it.....(the original was round and built of woven reeds)… get the book if you can... there is lots of interesting stuff in there...…

Flood myths worldwide may have had their origins in a sudden rise in sea-level (of about 8 feet some say) that occurred around 8,000 BC when a huge lake in Canada burst through its ice dam.
Flood Myths. Most ancient civilizations were built near rivers where a supply of fresh water was available. Flooding was a common problem. Flood myths are not great result of such cultures.
