It comes as no surprise to us that scientific scrutiny of biblical accounts frequently exposes falsehoods, errors and exaggerations.
According to the Old Testament, when the Israelites were kicked out of Egypt, they arrived back home to find the Canaanites living in the city of Jericho. Under Joshua’s directive, the Israelites marched around Jericho blowing trumpets, the walls came tumbling down and per Joshua 6:21 …“they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.”
Perhaps not. An article in New Scientist reports on a study of ancient and modern DNA indicating that “almost 90 per cent of present day Lebanese DNA is shared with the Canaanites, suggesting that biblical reports of their annihilation were greatly exaggerated.”

The Hebrews were never in Egypt. When the Hyksos were expelled they ended up in Canaan. The indigenous hill people, nomadic goat herders, appropriated the myths to give themselves more prestige. Their name is a form of Abiru which means those who dwell in the background. David and Solomon were mythic heroes much like King Arthur.
The Canaanites were actually expatriate Greeks from Pelasgia, refugees from the Dorian invasion. The were called Peleset and named their new land Pelesetina hence Palestine. Goliath wore armor described by Homer in the Iliad.
Hi DF,
Thanks for straightening that out. That's what happens when one takes the bible as a reliable source of history, one gets totally screwed up.
The Egyptian Empire extended all the way to the Tigris River in the Levant. So everyone in that area was in Egypt. The Hebrews didn't leave Egypt; Egypt left the Hebrews.
