Hi all, I just joined this website. I am a longtime atheist, but I am curious. How did you guys become atheists? I find a lot of people with a lot of different answers to this question. Me, I grew up having been baptized, attended CCD for 3 years, and attended church often until I was 11 years old. It was then, I learned more about the bible and religion in general. So, I decided none of it made any sense and that it all lacked evidence or anything at all to back it up. So how about you guys?

Welcome Taconic.
I'm one of the ones who has never been a theist.
Figuring out that religious stuff didn't make sense at eleven? Good for you! Bright kid, eh?
CCD? Catholic?
Yes, that is correct. Much of my family is religious. Thankfully, I was given an opportunity to decide my religion, or lackthereof, and I did so.

I was 12 when i started having doubts but took till 16 to become an atheist and till 35 to become a 'militant' atheist.
Well I became an atheist when I was arond 13.i have been born into a muslim family in a muslim country.it sucks for me because I cant even openly express who I am without being scared of the death penalty.

well i think I was 11 or so when i stopped the I don't care attitude and started having some interest (asking questions).
then at about 13 years old I was convinced that Christianity was a lie, just didn't have enough knowledge nor motivation to speak up.
Even if I did , i was in a church school, my mom was a catechist and all my friends were Christians.
I did not see it worth-ed to search for the truth at that time.
It is later that I full started to ridicule theists arguments about their beliefs, I think it was 17.
