Scott Bidstrup, who I have read essays from and keep current with, proposes as new world religious spirituality, or his specification for one to be more specific, and I hesitate to think it would bear any fruit.
In the link above he supposes that the disassociated apologist, in seeking legitimacy in the new world of science and its dislodging of the bible from cogent thought, needs to rethink its doctrine of disassociation with unbelievers and embrace a new order of philosophy beginning with humility, and succeeding virtues, that will genuinely lead to a respectable place in society. He also claims a very narrow view of all religions. Odd, but a decent short read for anyone curious about some of the stuff I call casual reading.
Regarding Scott's treatment of any religion in the link as a proposition for them to gain a foothold in a science-based world on the move away from the spirituality of faith, I think ol' Scott has thunk a think too far. YMMV.
