I am one of those atheist

@HiFi
I am one of those atheist that do not have any kids and am adamantly against having kids. And I am married to a wonderful woman that thinks the same as I do.

I can afford to have kids and give them great upbringing, many people have told me and my wife we would make great parents.

Whoopsie.

I already helped influenced a couple of different people to give up their religion lies/con and some of them had or plan to have kids. Maybe I break even?

I often say: "I am too damn logical to have kids." Having kids is illogical, at least to me.

Back when the human population numbered less than a billion and you were likely to starve to death if you did not have kids that would take care of you in old age when you were to weak and infirm to work the farm yourself having kids was very logical. (Also there was no birth control, so if you had a fertile woman sharing a bed with you, having kids was all but inevitable!)

Now a days with very effective forms of birth control, and with all these computers and automation kids frequently are more of a liability and drain, instead of being necessary to survival. Plus I do not wish to add to the whole human overpopulation problem, and I also have a pretty pessimistic view of how things are going to be on this planet 20-50 years out, even with all the tremendous opportunity/ wealth/ education I could give any children I could have, I expect their lives, especially as they got older would be considerably worse then my own, or my parents, grandparents, etc. livelihoods.

LogicFTW,

LogicFTW,

"I am one of those atheist that do not have any kids and am adamantly against having kids. And I am married to a wonderful woman that thinks the same as I do."

Have you ever considered the possibility of sponsoring one or more or your relative's kids? For instance, suppose you or your wife has a nephew or a niece. You could give them some money periodically, like every holiday and when they have a special event, such as passing to the next grade. It doesn't have to be that much but don't be cheap about it. Show that you value them for being part of your life. It is a good way to show them the wisdom of having a periodic savings plan.

@Rohan We all wish it happens

@Rohan We all wish it happens in our lifetime, however things like this can take a long time, multiple generations. I'm only being realistic.

Maybe some of us will live to

Maybe some of us will live to be 100's of years old due to advancements in medical technology! Ever think of that?? :) I mean this 3+ year old thread just got ressurected, anything is possible!
