So i have a problem, sometimes when i want to open a peg on atheist republic, i will get "some IP has been banned". The catch is that it is not my IP, i checked it.
I'm a litlte bit confused.

Have you tried using another browser and/or logging out?
Not really, i will try it. Thanks. Is there a link with the late attacks on the site or the problem is just from me?
I think it is linked with the attacks on the site; but most of us stopped having this problem. So both!
/e wild speculation: your browser has something saved (cookie with session id, or something like that) that the AR website does not like. I recommend testing it with another browser if you already have one (a second browser probably won't have the same information saved). Instead of taking more drastic measures like wiping out your browsers storage based only on my hunch. I don't know how the new ddos protection actually works, I'm only speculating.
Okey, i thought about that. Strange that with the same browser, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Try setting your browser to automatically erase your History and Cookies when you close it.

Neither do I. I just found it tends to solve a lot of problems. That way, when you visit a site, it is as if you are visiting for the first time. Creates problems when you like to return to a site and not have to deal with the newness thing.
However, ultimately, I feel it is the WWW site's responsibility with keeping up with the last time you visited. They are the ones who should keep the Cookies on their server. Ain't no damned reason now days for them to keep it your computer. A lot of these places have literally infinite storage space. Maybe not infinite, but they usually have hundreds of terabytes storage, if not petabytes. And ANY Google site literally does have infinite storage space with all of their farms over this planet.
Hell, I even have my system unit set up where no cookies are accepted, even from trusted sites. No thank you. I am limited in my storage. You server farms ain't.

" I feel it is the WWW site's responsibility with keeping up with the last time you visited. '
Over the internet, there is really no such thing as a connection state. All sorts of things, including load balancing will cause connections to close, and be recreated...those are times you want your identity to be held.
With cookies, you have the power to delete them (and can set your browser to do so after close). And if more than one person has accounts on your computer, your sets of cookies are distinct.
This error has nothing to do with cookies. I'm suspecting that the IP referenced in the misleading message is not a user at all, but is a database server refusing connection for some reason (capacity?).

Duh!
You missed the point.

First of all, i'm sorry that i wasn't here since a week or so... The same problem keeps happening and it's frustrating me... So i did what you adviced me but to no always.
I could show you my IP and the IP that is showed when this happens. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening to me. It can't be a ban from a moderator since... well, i never did something contrary to the rules
@ Talyyn
Sounds like ultimately the problem is with your ISP. IIRC, aren't you in France?
Try talking with your ISP. See if they help.
Don't worry about the time lapse. Real life always takes precedence.

Have you tried using a second device (like a phone or a computer that you have never used on AR before)?
Have you tried logging out of your account (then logging back in)?
Try using a VPN
I've been getting it on and off. Happened again this morning. (and it's not my IP)
@ arakish
I am in France, yes , but on the Reunion Island, which is located in the Indian Ocean, so maybe the physical device related to the WWW is not the same as for metropolitan France.
@ Nyar
I did try logging out and back, but it changes nothing. Unfortunately, all electronic devices in my home have been used for logging on atheist republic. But it reminds me that with the smartphone of a relative, i'd never have this problem.
@Rohan M.
I will try!
@NeverHappened
Frustrating, huh?
Try incognito mode:
in Firefox, hit Ctrl+Shift+P
in Chrome its Ctrl+Shift+N
in Internet Explorer I think it is Ctrl+Shift+P
@ Nyar
Ho! Thanks!
That's not really the problem. For example today, I got the message, then reclicking on the same link went through
Additionally the IP referenced is not my IP, so it's not really recognizing 'me'

Would they be willing to except a Highlander who lived in America as a retiring asshole who wants to get away from it all?
