Ridiculous Creationist Arguments

I was just browsing RationalWiki, when I got the idea to write this post from a maddeningly ridiculous creationist argument I found in RW's article on the Global Flood myth: The "hydroplate" theory, which was invented for the sole purpose of explaining away all the flaws in the Wholly Buybull; in other words, special pleading at its finest. In it, Young Earth Creationists try (and fail miserably) to get around the scientific impossibility of the sheer amount of water required for the Flood suddenly appearing out of nowhere by asserting that Earth once had (WARNING: CHANCE OF DYING WITH LAUGHTER FROM CONTINUING TO READ IS 25%): huge chambers of water sandwiched in between the crust and... ready for it... THE MANTLE!

Yep, that's right- the 3000-degree mantle of our planet was somehow unable to vaporize all of the water that once formed a nonexistent layer in between the silicate crust and the silicate mantle- yeah, makes PERFECT. FUCKING. SENSE!

What are some other ridiculous creationist lies, claims, and deceit that you have seen?

"There are no atheists in foxholes/turbulent airplanes"

So, according to christians, if an ex-Muslim pray for Allah during a turbulency, that proves that Allah exists?

There actually ARE atheists

There actually ARE atheists in foxholes. Contrary to what appears to be a recurring theme in the movies, we don’t magically turn into theists when faced with a life-threatening situation.

On the contrary, I have even heard that life-threatening situations have actually caused theists to turn into atheists! For more information, please refer to this ThoughtCo article: https://www.thoughtco.com/atheism-and-foxholes-248366

Re: No atheists in foxholes

As I have mentioned to somebody else in a recent PM, I have been in many, many "foxholes" (aka: dicey situations) over the years. Sometimes alone. Sometimes with other warriors. Don't recall once ever stopping to pray or wonder if god was around. Most often I was way too busy just trying to think, and plan, and fight to keep my sorry ass alive. And when it was all over and I somehow managed to survive, it was simply a matter of being happy and thumbing my nose and yelling (or thinking to myself), "Hah! You missed me, you stupid fuckers! Better luck next time!" No god involved whatsoever.

The craters of the moon were

The craters of the moon were formed from the splash created by the release of water from between the earth's crust and mantle. This idea emerged during a youtube explanation of the physics involved in Das Flood. The guy's hsndle was NephalimFree or something. Weird guy.

LOL they actually believe

LOL they actually believe that water is able to defy gravity?! Even if the water did go extremely high into the air, then even then, it wouldn’t have been able to escape the atmosphere and travel the hundreds of thousands of miles required in order for it to reach the Moon. And even when it did reach the Moon, it would only have been frozen into tiny crystals that would not visibly impact the Moon at all. And by the way, how was all that water able to resist Earth’s gravitational pull?!

Grinseed's picture
NephilimFree believed the

NephilimFree believed the pressure from the 'hydroplates' was powerful enough to push the water to escape velocity despite being informed that such speeds under such pressure would create such temperatures that the water would boil off long before leaving the atmosphere and broil all life.
He also insisted that if the bible said there were intergalactic monkeys making pizza on the dark side of the moon he would believe it.
You just cant argue with that sort of reasoning.

Rohan M.'s picture
And if you recognize that you

And if you recognize that you can't argue with such idiocy, they will claim victory and go on and on about how angry you are that you 'lost', when in reality it was because their arguments were so preposterous and ridiculous that you didn't even want to bother trying to reason with the person- a lost cause that isn't worth wasting a second of this short and only life over.

NephilimFree was a real nut job. I remember him and Thunderf00t going at it for a few videos. When I heard his "hydroplates" nonsense, all I could say was "WTF"? Then Thunderf00t did a video answering as you posted. That NephilimFree could be hilarious sometimes, but mostly, he was sick in the head.

He did indeed appear the epitome of the arrogant ignorant theist, the sort that makes you despair for mankind.
Then the story emerged of how he was sponging off the welfare cheque of some handicapped woman, that made me think of what a loathsome toad he was, but then it occurred to me he was a caricature of the worst aspects of 'arrogant, ignorant theism' and I have wondered if it wasn't just a scam to get youtube hits, by just being as wilfully provocative as he could be. I found myself hoping it was intended callous opportunistic deceit rather than sincere stupidity. Have to say I have never personally come across anyone quite that appalling...except for a few politicians.

Oh Hell yeah. I remember that. Did you see the one video where he was crying about being kicked out by that woman? He took the video down but Thunderf00t had downloaded a copy and put it on his channel.

You were too kind with "loathsome toad." I ain't going to put what I called him because I'd probably be censored.

*sigh* Oh, those were the good ol’ days of Thunderf00t’s channel... before he got all freaked-out about feminists and some tiny, insignificant SJW armchair atheism movement that nobody even cared about anyway, and before he joined TAA and Sargon in the crusade against the ‘evils’ that the online world supposedly has- that is, feminism, SJWs, RationalWiki, and Atheism+. Now virtually ALL of his videos are about the following topics: Feminism, feminism, or feminism.

If only he still made lots of videos like the debate you described... if only... :(

Last Cure for AIDS I read

Last Cure for AIDS I read about was from the Taliban. Something to do with tall buildings and repeating the word "Geronimo." or something like that. I didn't pay it a lot of attention. One of those insane religious cures like praying but the claim was "It cured AIDS a whole lot faster."

Oh, you mean that whole thing about Muslims throwing gays off of skyscrapers? I’ve definitely heard of that awful practice... and this goes to the Christians who might be reading this thread who don’t think we heathens shit on Islam enough.

The crocoduck is probably the most hilarious and desperate argument.

I disagree. I think it was

I disagree. I think it was the "The Atheist's Nightmare" (his stupid banana argument), which didn't prove intelligent design by Ray's sky daddy, but instead was an example of intelligent design by HUMANS growing countless generations of cloned banana trees on farms. And also, here are some counterexamples to the whole thing about bananas being "designed" for consumption by humans:

- Some people don't even like bananas.

- Some people are allergic to bananas. What kind of cruel sadist would "intelligently design" a fruit that could potentially kill some people when eaten by them?

- Bananas are TJ "The Amazing Atheist" Kirk's favorite food!

- Bananas are also one of my favorite fruits.

- They turn all brown and mushy after like, 2 minutes out of the peel. Better eat 'em fast!

"You're just taking it out of context."

Rohan M.'s picture
Oh yeah... that.

Oh yeah... that.

Those armchair apologetics are where a Christian or Muslim apologist automatically dismisses an atheist meme that quotes a Bible/Quran verse they don’t like as out-of-context and/or satanic nonsense without even bothering to do their research and read up on the actual verse in the Bible/Quran, and then whines about it so as to appear the victim of a victimless statement of fact. This is an uningenious and willfully ignorant debate tactic.

Oh, and if you then post a picture of the actual verse, then all of a sudden it’s ‘mistranslated’, and that the ‘true meaning’ is whatever the apologist wants it to be.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha .... Jesus

Ha ha ha ha ha ha .... Jesus must have been a fudking Genius When Jesus said, "Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." (Matthew 15:11) Or was he just prophesying good ole Ray?
