Reminds me of when Hillary Clinton and I were campaigning for Barry Goldwater. Yes, she was a Goldwater Girl. There was a joke going around about some of the Goldwater supporters. They were new conservatives, liberals who had been mugged.
I meander over political boundaries here and there, primarily because finding a candidate who's not entirely asinine is a fool's errand. Republicans can't open their mouths without sounding like mindless idiots and democrats can't speak without moralizing the populace with their condescension. Comes down to policy, really.
Policy is worse though, because it's so divided. The left is almost entirely anti-gun, but I don't agree with stricter gun control. The right is pro-life, but I'm pro-choice. The left is lax about immigration, but I think laws should be enforced as written and that entry into the country should be more guarded in this age of terrorism. The right wants tax cuts for the wealthy, but I don't. The right is against socialized health care, I'm for it. The left wants defense cuts, but I haven't made up my mind on it.
There's no party for me, because I hate both of them fairly equally. But the problem is that no candidates exist that hold my views. Everyone that's run for office in the last 40 years from either party has had identical platforms. Nobody runs for change, they run to pander to their electorate. Every conservative is just a projection of your average red neck from Rural Town, USA. Gun lovin', gay hatin', God fearin', capitalist with nationalistic tendencies. And every liberal is the exact opposite on every count. Nobody is willing to actually cooperate with one another to actually accomplish anything significant. They're all too worried about losing donation money.
So fuck 'em all. This country will only get more and more divided as its citizens become less and less informed by an education system that gets shittier by the minute. I think I'll learn to speak Swedish and move to some Scandinavian paradise to watch as this shit hole goes to hell in a hand basket.

To be perfectly honest, I don't give a shit about prejudices against me in Sweden or Finland because I doubt they could be worse. You might call Sweden an immoral shit hole, but I seriously doubt it could be as bad this, the only developed country that denies millions healthcare because of some pretended lack of funds while simultaneously increasing the defense budget by $800 million, the only developed country where lead-contamination in a major city's water is left unfixed for 3 years, and the only developed country in which science is so universally ignored that most people think it morally unconscionable to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, but think that the same baby, if brought to term, is better off being neglected by the state than raised by gay parents. If I had to pick, I know which one I would choose.
And if he is living in the Bible Belt, I can testify to the fact that he is hated everywhere by everybody. Hell, if I was beaten, humiliated, raped, and molested for being a "pagan godless heathen," I can only imagine how it must be for our buddy Jared.
However, I have been to Sweden. And one thing I can say is that the "shit hole" Sweden is infinitely "sweeter" than the "shit hole" known as America.

TD Sweden has laws to prevent religious institutionalization of government. You know what that means for Islam, right? Either way, Swedish was just an example I chose. I could move to Iceland and never deal with mosquitoes again. The point I was trying to make is that pretty much any Scandinavian country would be preferable to here. Except maybe Denmark because it would flood as soon as the ice caps melt.

Official statistics of the Swedish police show that crime is decreasing in Sweden overall. The only type of crime that has gone up is sexual offences, most likely because more people are coming forward with the abuse they have suffered, and the definition of sexual abuse has broadened, so the statistics over time are not easily comparable. It is true that people of immigrant descent are 2.5 times more likely to do crimes in Sweden, but when compared to their socioeconomic situation, the difference all but disappears.
Recently Sweden has had incidents of gang related crimes, the members of which seem to be mostly of marginalized immigrant descent. The internet pundits on the right like to use these incidents to push their own simplistic narratives of the "clash of cultures", like the left likes to portray all immigration as the way to utopia.
But overall Sweden is one of the most succesful countries on the planet. Free healthcare, free education, parental leaves for both spouses, no draft, sounds pretty sweet.
Wrong crime is being redefined to lower the statistics to suit the leftist agenda. Sweden is rape capital. It was successful but it is going to shit stop being an irrational apologist .

Fair question, I guess my answer is atheists are often concerned with humanity and I think the alt left is a secular religion that is counterproductive to humanity. Good to have atheists that span the political spectrum to stop stagnation and echo chambers.
Also atheists are good at arguing so i can test half baked thoughts out.
I like to think of myself as a fairly progressive liberal. There are a lot of things I don't agree with the alt-right/republican party. I do agree with many of the platforms on the other side but I like to vote for an individual rather than a party. I just feel like the only difference with many of these politicians are their party affiliations and that's it. I hope in the near future, someone comes into the public eye that is simply "different" from past and current politicians
