Ruler? At what point in your thinking/life/experience/conclusion that being a ruler is where life becomes good? Are you assuming it's the envy of all men to become a ruler?
I would submit that it is the envy of all men to become successfully reclusive, instead, and be burdened by no man or woman's petty selfishness and related grievances outside of his own. That would truly be a fine fate I would ascribe to.
Not all men no,however ruler does not have to be an king or president. It can simply be the manager of a small corporation.
