Seems a bit harsh. Is the person blocked from the forums or just the hub?

I feel the person was asking the right questions and some of us could trigger him to think critically with our posts. Isn't that part of why we are here? I understand the guy made a mistake, but banning seemed just too harsh.

Also, where do the deists and pantheists go?

@Rick Re: Stewie

@Rick Re: Stewie

I know you may have directed your comment to Cyber, but I hope you don't mind if I try to clarify the matter a bit. In the very first post that dude made in the debate area, he started off with a big fat blatant and intentional lie. To me (and I'm reasonably sure to others on here) that indicates an individual who has zero intentions of any reasonable debate/discussion. And, personally, I see no need nor advantage in wasting my time on anybody like that. Sure, some of them can be fun targets for the occasional entertainment factor, but from my experience on here guys like Stewie are simply annoying. Good riddance to him, as far as I am concerned.

Rickdiculous, he did not

Rickdiculous, he did not identify as a deist or pantheist. He identified as both theist and atheist and did not comply with instructions to clear that up or stop posting in the Hub. This warning advised him that he would be banned if he did not do so. Caveat emptor. The Hub is for atheists only, not theists, deists, pantheists and I will protect that.

IT MAKES US FK,ING DEAF!!!!

IT MAKES US FK,ING DEAF!!!!
I just had to say it. I played poker the other night and one of the players has completely blown his eardrums due to music. He always has headphones on at full blast, knows every band that ever existed from the 50s to 2019. If you ever went to a concert, this is the guy you would want to go with.

HOWEVER; because he has blown out his eardrums he yells when he talks. His normal talking voice could be heard across a football field. We hold the poker game in the basement of the apartment complex I live in. I can hear him in front of the complex out on the street.

So far, we have had no complaints from the neighbors. We do end the games at 12AM. I guess most find this acceptable.

My point: Music has its victims.

And here is something funny

And here is something funny for you. Whenever we went to outdoor concerts, especially the Lalapaloozas, we always wore ear plugs. Got to protect what you have while young or you will not have it when you get old. My last hearing test indicated my hearing is still equivalent to someone in their mid-20s although I am over 30 years older.

My biggest problem with hearing is all the background noise I can hear; thus, I have to mentally block out what I am hearing in order to focus on anything. If you ask me a question, and I seem to ignore you, it is simply due to fact I may still be blocking out all the background noise. For me to hear you, you have to first get my attention, then speak to me. My wife an daughters learned this early.

many things that people

many things that people consider spiritual are ultimately neurological.. I don't terribly much care what label people put on it, it can serve as an emotional release.Even when we realize this logically, there is beauty.

Probably the closest I've come to a 'religious experience' (which never happened when I was in religion) was on a very cloudy, rainy day when I was feeling a bit of depression. I played Mozart's Requiem*, and felt an intense image of this incredible music coming from another world, invisible behind the rainclouds. I had tears in my eyes, the imagery was indescribably compelling, even knowing as I did that it was all happening in my head. The whole thing left me breathless and exhausted (in a good way). Never experienced anything like this before or after.

[*The Requiem was written by Mozart on his deathbed, too weak to write it, it was transcribed by Salieri. To me, this was his parting gift to humanity]

Discussing with my wife what to do if one of us dies, I told her that if there is any kind of a memorial service, I'd like the first movement of the Requiem, and also Smokin Joe Kiubek's "Out of body out of mind....."

When I listen to classical

When I listen to classical music, it makes me want to kill people. I imagine swinging the knife in time with the high pitched violin rhythms. Is God trying to reach me through music for a holy war?

Disclaimer: The preceding paragraph was designed for shock value and does not represent reality. Just like many things I imagine.

Edit: changed we to I

Listening to music can

Listening to music can release dopamine and serotonin into the brain. Both produce pleasure.

Secular Music is therapeutic!

Secular Music is therapeutic! christian music is shit! Try some Iron Maiden, The Number of The Beast or Rush 2112. If you like classical Paganini is great, although there is news of devil worship! Blues, Robert Johnson, although he made a deal with the devil too.

I guess it depends on your beliefs or lack there of. Based on what I am reading, maybe you should just stick to THE WHO and the song WHO ARE YOU?
