Australian churches infiltrated by Chinese agents

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-22/book-reveals-extent-of-chinese-inf...

This article is about a new book alleging that China is working covertly to build influence in Australian society. The interesting part, from the atheist viewpoint, is near the end of the article, where it describes Chinese infiltration of Christian churches. It includes the following amazing quote from the website of a Chinese methodist church in Canberra.

"The awe-inspiring righteousness of Xi Jinping, the President of the People's Republic of China, and the rise of a great nation that is modern China are part of God's plan, predestination and blessing."

So this communist state, the sins of which are often blamed on atheism, is actually part of god's great plan.

EDIT: I put this in the Hub by mistake. I meant to post it in the Debate Room.

It doesn't surprise me.

It doesn't surprise me. Hybrid warfare and 'green men' troop deployments may be Russian inventions but they are easily understood and much discussed. Russia attacks who it perceives as its "enemies" online; through social media and influencing elections; as well as covert and every other unconventional means imaginable. The Chinese have 'black jails' and their own means...

"Black Jails are a network of extralegal detention centers established by Chinese security forces and private security companies across the People's Republic of China in recent years."

"I had to be very courageous. I thought about it for two nights before I decided tell you all what happened, as originally and completely as I could," he said, according to a transcript translated by the South China Morning Post.
"I also want to tell the whole world. This isn't about me, this isn't about a bookstore, this is about everyone."
Lam said, unlike the other booksellers, he had no family in China and this made it easier to speak up. (Unquote).

Malignant regimes have also learned from the Arab Spring that has so frightened Russian oligarchs and other non-democrats. Social media played an important part in overthrowing Ali (Tunisia) and Mubarak (Egypt). It went awry in Syria when Al-Assad used ruthless methods and was backed by Hezbullah and Putin.

Despite many investigations, there is no indications that Ms H Clinton is anything other than an honest lawyer and sincere politician, whatever one thinks of her policies.

And less we forget...

There are some bad people in world politics. Be careful not to trust the wrong people.

That quote is pure gold.

That quote is pure gold.

"The awe-inspiring righteousness of Xi Jinping, the President of the People's Republic of China, and the rise of a great nation that is modern China are part of God's plan, predestination and blessing."

Substitute China for USA (or any other nation) and the leader's name, the result is that this belief is spouted everywhere and in many nations.

"The awe-inspiring righteousness of Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, and the rise of a great nation that is modern America are part of God's plan, predestination and blessing."

So what? I also live in a nation with many Chinese immigrants. They carry pride for China, embrace it's values, and are very proud of the history of their nation. And most go to church.

So what? This is expected. I would be very surprised if they believed anything different.

That is true, churches carry

That is true, churches carry a lot of weight in most democracy's when they decide to back a party or candidate, which is probably why the Republican party stood solid with Trump. Churches do tend to enjoy nationalism a great deal.
