Christian concerned by lack of humanist principles

At least one Christian is concerned that many other "followers" of Christ are just not decent people.

"Evangelicals need to stop giving the rest of us Christians a bad name," Tracey M Lewis-Giggetts. The Guardian US.

Nice article. One way to improve things would be to stop demonising and persecuting gay people - and not just the evangelicals but the RCC, which I believe is the single largest denomination in the States.

I think it is a good idea to

I think it is a good idea to show and defend their true faith.

God does indeed hate fags according to their horrible religion.

We should not encourage hypocrisy but instead work hard to eradicate such an evil brainwashing machine by letting the Christians dig their own grave.

Hmm, OK, then. I was thinking of a more gentle approach similar to the Anglicans, but maybe your idea is better.

"Even today, in many areas,

"Even today, in many areas, religious charities are the only service organizations available to people in need."

Jeez what hypocrisy.
As if there aren't charitable organization which actually have a record where the money is actually going.
This guy is full of it.

"Christianity no longer asserts a dominant influence in American society; instead, American Christianity is now heavily influenced by popular, secular culture."
When did it ever not get influenced by the culture it was in.
Christmas, Easter, Confession etc.. are all things which were added later and helped to color Christianity in history.

Maybe it doesn't assert a dominant influence because it has less power then when it threatened to burn witches if they do not comply?

Yes surly much less now that there are more sane people in power then not.

"Too many people who don’t believe in Christianity are no longer willing to allow the religion to act as a moral compass because it unfortunately no longer reflects, as a whole, the spiritual values of love, grace and peace that once resonated more broadly."

Maybe it never was a moral compass and people are starting to see it more?
Like priest raping little boys, i bet his moral compass is well in order to give us the proper guide.(irony)

I do not see why we should support the hypocrites to put the blame on the people instead of the actual problem, indoctrination.

A theology that brainwashes little children to not use their intellectual faculties when it comes to religion, is an evil concept.
