Do they worship the same god?

I ran across this article and I don't know whether to laugh, cry or barf.

"Islam Is Not An Abrahamic Religion"
http://www.rightsidenews.com/editorial/rsn-pick-of-the-day/islam-not-abr...

I contend that Judaism, Christianity and Islam are a shared hallucination i.e. they "worship" the same invisible friend.
As there are plenty of former Christians, Muslims and probably a few disenchanted Jews here I thought I'd see what your opinions are.

Seems to me that this is like the Catholics and the Lutherans getting together to to dis the Baptists.

I've always thought that

I've always thought that theists ought to stick together, in the sense that worshipping a god must be better than not doing so. If they said something like, We know there is a god but we're having a bit of trouble figuring him (it's never her) out, it would lend more credence to the whole idea of a god. At the moment it's easy to say that not all the gods can be true so none of them is, but if everyone merely says it's the same god but with a different interpretation, then that argument goes away. Of course, jihad is a bit different from banning condoms.......

erm... The crusades rings any bells?

What happens is that the guys who do not believe are usually killed by the theists before they are even known about in history.
Today they are discredited as demons and what not.

In the past if you did not join into a belief system you were easily targeted since there is no strength in numbers.

We do not see it today but religion was and still is the glue that holds a huge number of people together(for better and for worse).

It was used to control people and hold an empire together efficiently.

I didn't say the theists did

I didn't say the theists did stick together, I said they ought to, today, not a thousand years ago. I don't disagree with what you've said but it has no bearing on the point I was making.

Yea maybe i did not explain

Yea maybe i did not explain myself clearly.
Today they still hate each other because they have history of fighting between themselves, not just theological differences.

Like British and French rivalry can still be seen today.

These religious groups been burning each other alive for a few hundred years FFS, you cannot expect there isn't bad blood between them.

We see it in games sometimes on a less heated level, although I'm skeptic on how less heated it is:

Even though both teams like football it does not mean they will go hand in hands.

They might hate each other because football divides them.

Just like religion does, it creates division among people.

I prefer when they're killing each other. The less superstitious people the better.
Also, when they're fighting amongst themselves they tend to forget about us.

Me too. But I was speaking

Me too. But I was speaking from the point of view of a logical theist, which, come to think of it, is an oxymoron.....

Or, maybe not? It might at least be just as bad.
It would be interesting to see some numbers on how much pain, suffering, starvation and death from diseases like AIDS it has caused. In Africa and South America there must have been many millions of victims of various secondary effects. Many of these countries also have anti-abortion laws, some even so so strict that women can get prison sentences for having miscarriages.

These days Brazil and neighbouring countries are having major problems with the Zika virus.
It's suspected to be causing the "Microcephaly" disorder with babies being born with abnormally diminished growth of the brain and head (3,700 confirmed and suspected cases in Brazil), if pregnant women get the virus. So the authorities have asked people to postpone pregnancies. But are they loosening up their anti-abortion laws? Naaah...

If the god of the Catholics were real and I got to meat "him", I'd punch that friggin a-holes teeth out.

Actually that's a good point.

Actually that's a good point. Add to that over-population and it's a real problem.

OK, reset, jihad is a bit different from demonising gay people...damn, that doesn't work either. Fish on Fridays?

The classic problem when

The classic problem when arguing with theists. When your life is based on an ever-changing fiction, there are no two people who worship the same god, never was, never will be. They scarcely know what they believe in (though they certainly recognize what they don't like right away). This question is trying to apply logic to a illogical belief system.
