WOW! I don't believe it....

WOW! I don't believe it....... And a quick search reveals........

"The story you are reading is satirical. The post may have links to real events that the satire is based on, but the Laughing in Disbelief article is fake.

There are winks to readers in each piece besides the link(s) to this page that I humbly offer as hints that the story in question is satirical.

Maybe there is someone in the story who has a name derived from canard?

Perhaps the people in the post are named after Confederate generals or Nazis?

The article starts out seemingly sane and then spirals into absurdity?

All of these, my friends, are signs that the story is a Poe."

...and freedom from religion of course, in the US you are free to believe whatever you wish, but also free to not believe anything if you wish. The idea of separation of church and state is underestimated by a lot of Americans, who don't seem to know how lucky they are.

Oh, I do understand. The worst countries have turned out to be those dominated by a religious-political ideal. Greece, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan etc. Religion shouldn’t enter the political realm, I agree.

Right. And war is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

The Christian churches define "freedom" as the right to molest the minds of children with crazy ideas, because they know those ideas are very difficult to instill into the mind of a sane adult.

There is no other country I would prefer to live in

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

@HumbleThinker: Give me a reason why I would consider it and I’ll let you know what I think.

One good reason is that you don't really know how good it is to live in America because you have no basis for comparison. You never really understand the place you live until you leave it. I've heard many Japanese returning after years abroad saying they didn't appreciate Japan until they lived overseas.

Of course, it's also true that you can never go home, because while you're away, you change and home changes. But that's called growth. Even the Zombie Guru who founded your faith was a wanderer.

Ehh. Not really sure there is

Ehh. Not really sure there is much substance to this. Your basically saying “have more sympathy”. So what, you want me to live in Venezula for a year for me to tell you how much of a shithole it is? I know EXACTLY how good it is to be here in the US. That’s why I made my original statement. I don’t need to live in Pakistan to tell you why I appreciate the US.

@HumbleThinker: Your basically saying “have more sympathy”.

Are we speaking the same language? I said nothing of the sort.

I don’t need to live in Pakistan to tell you why I appreciate the US.

And like a frog living in a well, you look up at that little patch of blue and think you're seeing the whole sky. Maybe you need to get out of Kansas, Toto, and look at how the other half lives and how they've been affected (for better or for worse) by the historical actions of your country and your religion.

You are saying the only way

You are saying the only way to know you are living in a good spot is to first live in every other spot. It doesn’t make sense. All you need is a decent grasp on politics and a better grasp on religion. America is THE best country to live in. Sorry.

HT: Re: America is the best country. I have lived in Korea 22 years. I have traveled extensively in China, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, and throughout South East Asia. I have two months off work every year. I have just returned from Cambodia and may retire there.

Anyplace in the world is a good place if you have a good job, earn a healthy living, and have access to food and shelter, clothing and a social life. It's the poor that suffer. You know, the ones' religions feed upon.

You must have been absent from school the day they taught critical thinking and reading comprehension. It's sad, because America used to have a really great education system.

But ironically, to say " America is THE best country to live in" you logically do "need to first live in every other spot." You also need to qualify your claim with a few ifs about your ethnicity, income level, religion, etc.

I love how everybody's

I love how everybody's default setting here is to make ad hominem slanders, then to follow it up with semantics while refusing to give any ground to an opposing viewpoint. You must be a blast at parties.

And for the record, I have excellent critical thinking and reading comprehension.

@Humble Thinker: And for the record, I have excellent critical thinking and reading comprehension.

Then why don't you use them? You've twice interpreted my posts with a complete disconnect from both words and meanings.

Accusations of semantics are a classic way to avoid responding to arguments. It's not semantics to state that you can't say America is best until you've seen (or at least studied) everywhere else. My original point, however, was that spending time in a couple of other countries gives you a better perspective on your own country, like triangulation.

And you're also guilty of gross generalization. America is the still the richest country in the world, but lets look at some other measures. Would you say America is the fairest country in the world, the safest, the best educated, the best governed? Does America have the best justice system? Is America the best for all of its peoples? My answer would be, "It could be."

well, seems that you got HT snookered. He's behind the 8 ball and seeing red. If he wasn't so blue he'd be in the pink. But he's probably just green with jealousy at my wit, it does brown off theists, As he hasnt replied to TM's gay marriage question I reckon he must be yellow and avoiding it. Mind you he could be waiting for his cue....

How's that for a pot roast?
