@science follower: Bullshit,

@science follower: Bullshit, go and read who Herodotus was and then come again, ignorant.

P.S.
And see if you clarify, Is therea god, or are there gods? I see you clueless ("(...) put your life in gods hands"), although not surprising me, when one defends garbage the brain is drying.

there is one God and the trinity bears that out, I am a monotheist I believe in the trin ity. the father the son and the holy spirit. Not in mythological gods but the one true God.not 3 gods but in essence 3 people in as one god. I believe in the Christian understanding of gods essence, I don`t follow ancients greeek roman Egyptian gods but one monolithic god.i am a Christian a follower of Christ. in the beginning god.

@science follower: as others

@science follower: as others in Allah, Vishnu, Ahura Mazda, Yahve... and yes, all religions are based on mythology, in your case on the sky myth, which is Egyptian. Calm down, you'll learn that there's nothing original with the religion.

I, too, am a believer. I

I, too, am a believer. I love Jesus Christ and would die for Him as He died for me. However, your post is the reason people are turned off by Christianity and religion. Your post is judgmental in that they are wrong for believing (or not believing) as they do. As a Christian, you should lead people to the cross by being a positive example of Christs love, don't shun them away from the cross with negative words and bigotry. I will pray for you.

Is there a god? How do you know? Can you prove your god? Can you prove the tooth fairy? The only "example" a christian can display is one of blind obedience and ignorance. Not an insult, just a fact. Christianity is the very definition of bigotry. Religion invented bigotry and prejudice. Take the famous phrase "The only good Injun is a dead Injun" was said by Gen. Sheridan a devout chistian that believed that Native Americans were devils because they were not white and not christian. Indeed christianity has spread more hate than any other form of idealism, they even hate each other. Racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamaphobia, genderism, all find their roots in christianity and dwell comfortably to this day in their fold.
It galls me everytime I read or hear a christ espousing christianity as a religion of love and or peace. Nothing can be further from the truth. If you total all the wars, all the murders, rapes, molesting, genocides, theft, extortion, violence, thuggery, slavery, brainwashing, culturecide, polluting, and any crime against humanity you can think of, christianity is at the center of more then half of all of them. It is the single worst blight on humanity and continues to be.
Science and Art are the only two great accomplishments of humankind. To deny and or ignore them is a crime. Christians do both. There is no god, and no love in christianity.

Alright, @non theist... ehm... sorry, @science follower, nor is that you said any stupidity that we had not read to you before. And don't worry, the question is to do things for the living, the dead no longer need anyone to do anything for them. People like you give bibles to the hungry in Africa, so they can die read, I suppose.

@science follower: Jesus said nothing, you yourself linked an article that argued that Jesus never existed, and I'll repeat the question, Don't you know read? Why did you link an article that argued that Jesus never existed and now you say "Jesus said"? Do you have reading comprehension problems? Because that would explain many things Ôo)-~

Being easter weekend I would rather believe in the bunny. If there were a god as described in that book. It, should be made to sit in a corner of the universe with the label, " Divine Complacency and ignorant tyrant".

Holy SHIT! Jesus Fucking christ! I have to go color eggs!!!!

how can you take Christ name

how can you take Christ name in vain, you know the roman soldiers did that and some of the jewish leaders and people said the same until Jesus and a earth quake proved other wise.Jesus resurrection proved that he was the son of god the god who provides rain on the good and those who do evil things to others. You say he is a tyrant would a tyrant give his life for others? His sacrifice for you and me, Nothing that we did but what he did for us.So before you go using that kind of language about an all mighty benevolent God you should consider his attributes. He is also long suffering not willing that any should perish. So repent ask for forgiveness for the horrible way that you described him, He will forgive you, And you can have a relationship with an almighty God.

Science follower. It seems

Science follower. It seems like you are spouting what you've been taught. If you think god almighty is speaking to you through the Bible I hope for your sake you start to read the words with discernment. If you did you would see that'd is the creator of evil Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create Evil. I the lord do all these things." The amount of people god has killed in the Bible and the horrendous ways he tells his people to kill for him makes the god of the Bible evil to me. Check out what he does to the Midianites in numbers 31. Moses was told to put very Midiante to death. For some reason they didn't murder woman or children but took them captive. Moses ordered them to kill the woman who had known a man and boy children. Keep the virgins though. They'll be good for something. Your god is a killer! There is no way Id spend more time giving him any respect. Nor would I want a relationship with him if he existed.

Hi, DontSayGod,

Hi, DontSayGod,

Since we are atheist we work with inferences based on data, thus we need objectivity. For instance, if you say that you believe in a god or that you have a strong faith, this is an objective truth about a subjective state of mind or idea. Nobody can discuss about it, if we take that you speak sincerely about your own mental processes. At the same time we cannot assume there's a god because there's no evidence about it, and only one evidence would be enough.

From my point of view you have somehow an exquisite sensitivity regarding the nature of reality when you come to think that language is a tool and there's some portion of reality that cannot be expressed by language. When you get to that point you realise inevitably that long and short are just a convention and therefore, differences like that one between everything and nothing get kind of confusing and not entirely revealing, but, at the same time, everything that falls within an outside language mixes, because there's no concept to describe that reality. And this point is when you establish a non legit leap of faith, you try to fill that what you don't understand with a concept (a concept when this nature doesn't answer to any concept) and, by the same token, you start to add some attributes to that concept such as morals, tradition, truth, etc.

Even if we share that sensitivity and we grasp that reality is more complex that it seems (and science helps a lot on this) and that reality can escape to language boundaries (and thus we delete the concepts of false/true, it's like a word-game or something), when you come back from that weird territory of philosophical oddity, we have to remember that seeking truth about the world outside verifiable facts is not honest, because that just means that we are not being able to say: "I don't know". We are humans and we know what appears to be just very little about everything, in fact, the more we know, the more we know we have a lot more to learn. And if you really grasp that language it's like a trap, you just cannot draw any conclusion out of that point of view, if we are being fair.

On the other hand science talks about facts (and temporary trues that actually work) and religion, about things that nobody can prove. But of course, neither of us can prove that unicorn doesn't exist, can we? What science says is this: this theory works because its predictions find a match in reality. You don't prove what doesn't exist, you prove what is over there one way or another, that's science.

You don't know what "god" is

You don't know what "god" is either.

And your reasoning is basically: only uneducated, irrational idiots accept claims at face value without evidence.. and I completely agree.

You point out the exact reason why religion is dying: people have easy access to information that shows them how ridiculous the idea is.

Take your head out of the sand

I am a believer, first and

I am a believer, first and foremost. However, I do not believe in religion and I wander about the bible at times, as well. I don't know God, never seen Him nor has He spoke to me. I believe in Jesus, and would die in His name if I had to. I firmly believe I would not be here today if it was not for God. I felt His presence and He spared my life. I don't believe in the church. Each denomination seems to have their own "take" on what is allowed and what is not allowed. Some say gay marriage is fine, others say they will burn in hell, some say adultery is forgiven others say no. So, who do you believe? I believe in none of them. Have I read the entire bible? No. It is written so people can't understand and can you trust the people that translated it into the NIV? I don't know. I could say a lot more but I will end with this....I don't believe in religion, or the church. I believe in God and Jesus and that each of us should love one another regardless of belief. You are not bad people for not believing, just as I'm not a bad person because I believe. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

"I wander about the bible at times"

That's a hell of a trick I must say?

"Have I read the entire bible? No. It is written so people can't understand and can you trust the people that translated it into the NIV? "

This is not a very compelling defence of religious beliefs I must say.

"You are not bad people for not believing, just as I'm not a bad person because I believe."

I agree with you on that.

"Hope you all have a wonderful day."

Thank you, I will certainly try to, life's too short to do anything else.

It is hard to believe that, in this day and age, there are still people like you. Dumb by choice doesnt begin to describe what you are. Please go and get some help, there is a fancy medical name for what you are suffering from and very effective drugs to treat your condition.

Atheists like predictability

Atheists like predictability and scientific methods help to find that. I don't believe in a God that cannot or would not help children who starve to death, beg on streets, forced into sexual slavery around the world. A God who just stands and watches and apparently is punishing those oblivious children for the sins of their parents or grandparents. And if it all comes down to humans making every wrong right then why the hell I should worship an impotent being whose very existence is questionable and even you cannot explain that entity with certainty?
