It looks like you are sorting all the posts in descending title order (and so the star and the round double-quotes are "winning".
(I'm even putting a character with high unicode code in the beginning of this post's title to test this: "￮", U+FFEE, "halfwidth white circle".)
EDIT: My post (still?) didn't make it to the frontpage with this trick. Anyway, change the sorting criteria to show more relevant posts on the frontpage.
