FYI:
When you set up your profile, you can list both User and Display Names. The Display Name is what other folks see when they view your profile or when you post in any of the forum rooms.
Be advised that even if you have checked the box allowing PMs, others will not be able to send you one if your User Name is different than your Display Name. If you want PMs then you will need to have those two names match.

No, it’s not new. Are the PMs you’ve been getting replies to ones you have sent?
Yes, they are.
That’s why you are receiving them. If someone were to try to initiate a PM conversation with you, they would not be able to without knowing your user name.
