Self-styled Christian prophets have a huge following in Africa, and often predict major events, including the deaths of leading public figures. In a sermon on December 31st, Rev Owusu-Bempah made 18 prophecies for 2019, including the death of either Imam Sharabutu or Ghana's Muslim Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said, "There are Kings and there are Kings. A paramount chief will kick the bucket. Do not despise this prophecy too, this prophecy is dangerous; and when it happens, everyone will remember today."
He stated that if Ghanaians don't endeavor to pray, either Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or Chief Imam Sheikh Ductur Imam Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu might lose their lives in 2019.
He claims it's not confirmed but strong prayers will be able to avert the prophecy.
"I'm repeating what I said. I said, 2019 is coming with the death of prominent and mighty people. I won’t mention any name because of the prophecy concerning the late Vice President, Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah, although I did not mention his name, everyone knew he was the one because he was the only surviving ex-Veep at the time," he added.
An organ, windows and chairs were damaged after the youth stormed Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah's church in Accra.
According to BBC, the group was armed with machetes and stormed a church of the pastor's Glorious Word and Power Ministry on Wednesday, January 2nd. The group streamed the attack live on Facebook, damaging property and razing to the ground a billboard with Rev Owusu-Bempah's image. Imam Sharabutu appealed for calm, saying those incensed by the prophecy should forgive the pastor, who is one of the most charismatic church leaders in Ghana.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has called on Muslims in Ghana to refrain from attacking the leader of Glorious Word Ministry, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah. He said: “we (Muslims) are living in peace with fellow Christians and other religion so let’s maintain that relationship. Leave him with his character and forgive him. As for death every soul shall taste it either today or tomorrow so no need to attack the man. Please leave him and forgive him, I am begging you, I am begging you," he added.
The prophet also stated in his revelation that a National Islamic funeral beckons; the funeral of a Vice President of a sitting president and a Chief Imam, if nothing is done to avert the doom.
