Clarifying The "ATHEIST WORLD VIEW."

These theists keep popping in here and accusing atheists of having a "World View." Over and over again we attempt to reason with them and simply explain that it is not a world view but a simple lack of belief in God or gods. Well, I have thought about this and I am finding that my atheist disbelief extends to the Christian World View placing me on the anti-theist side of atheism. The things I don't believe include but are not limited to.....

1. The creation of the universe. Not only that, but, a magical sky being existing beyond time and space, that isn’t contradictory, being responsible for doing the creating.

2. Magical flying sky beings impregnating virgins and making magical babies that are really the same god that impregnated the virgin in the first place.

3. Dead people crawling up out of the ground and then walking around convincing people they are alive and well.

4. Praying to a magical man in the sky can change the course of weather, calm seas, cure disease, ease pain, stop suffering, and the person praying a better life.

5. The idea that unconditional love and a rewarded in an afterlife in Heaven awaits, regardless of the crimes you commit in this life, as long as the magic man has forgiven you.

6. A magical afterlife where believers meet their dead loved ones once again and everyone will be spiritually alive and happy together; not like they are in real life on this planet.

7. Unconditional love is unconditional. Of course it is unconditional as long as you believe, open your heart, submit, and never engage in blasphemy or apostasy. (SIDE NOTE: Babies who don't have water sprinkled on their heads burn in hell too.)

8. The special place for non-believers full of fire and torture that lasts forever and ever. The place non-believers choose to go when they refuse to believe. Simply not choosing to go there, is not an option for the non-believers as they don’t have free will. If they didn’t really want to go there they would be believers.

9. Something called a spirit resides within the human body and is eternal, so that even after death, theists get to keep on being narrow minded assholes. I believe they get to die just like the rest of us.

10. The idea that ritualistic cannibalism and blood sacrifice, in remembrance of the flying sky being, that involve imbibing grape juice or wine that can magically turn into actual blood or eating bread that transubstantes into real living flesh in a believer's tummy, is reasonably sane.

11. The creator God thing inspired the writing on a non-contradictory holy book that only appears to be full of contradictions that aren’t really contradictions if theists make up enough excuses to resolve them.

12. The magical Jesus-man thing, the son of a virgin impregnated by the flying sky God, who is actually the flying sky god himself in baby form, and who is also something called a Holy Ghost, is worshiped because the original God could think of no other way to bring forgiveness to mankind than to kill himself in a blood sacrifice while he pretended to be his own son.

13. Evil magical demons can take hold of your mind and force you to do terrible things if you are not protected by the good and kind magical flying sky daddy.

14. The idea that Jesus had the power to spit in the eye or a blind person and cure them of their blindness. People can fly.
Serpents and asses can talk, Water can be changed into wine and fish and bread can be magically multiplied to make more.
Atheists just don’t believe the Theist World View.

15. People flying, serpents and asses talking, anyone walking on water, fish or loaves magically multiplying, anyone talking to a god thing and getting an answer who is not delusional.

As an Atheist, I just don't believe in the THEIST WORLD VIEW.

@Talyyn Re: "Are there really talking asses????????????"

Oh, absolutely! I have known many of them throughout my life. Even worked with quite a few over the years. So I don't know what fantasy world Cog lives in where there are no talking asses, but I know I definitely believe they are real.

Ohhh, you mean 'ass' the animal . I god confused. Here we say 'ass' for the animal and 'arse' or 'bum ' for one's rear end.

Great post, Cog. It made my day. I laughed all the way through it. What's most magical of all is that they have managed to take what is truly insane and actually make it seem sane somehow. I wholeheartedly join you in not believing in their THEIST WORLD VIEW!!

Spot on. If I had a nickel for each time I've heard that "uh atheism is just another religion/worldview because [insert dreadful logic here] lolololXDXDXD I'm so clever" drivel before, I'd be a millionaire by now.

Agreed, that one annoys me when theists can't even get the actual definition correct, how hard is it?!

And its amusing how we are all immediately bundled together in regards to world views on various topics.

I have just found the theist assertion that atheists have a world view annoying. Then they run on about Atheists can't have morals. Atheist think life came from nothing. Atheists believe in evolution. In the Atheist world view life has no meaning. Etc......

Well what is it the theists are offering us as a replacement for science? What meaning to the theists give to life? Virgin Births, Walking Dead, Magic, Talking Animals, A new Taxonomy where Bats are Birds, Really bad advice like "Think not of tomorrow," hatred of homosexuality and "do not suffer a witch to live?

Doesn't the Bible itself contain some decent advice on this matter? (Matthew 7:5)
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye

Well, he is on target on a

Well, he is on target on a whole lot of stuff but then he makes that "LEAP OF FAITH" and asserts "THERE IS A GOD." If he were as intellectually honest with his God belief as he was with the rest of his assertions, he would admit that he has no idea at all if there is a god or not and that his belief in such a being is based on nothing at all. For someone who says the idea of god is man made, which I fully agree with, he knows a whole lot about his version of God that is not this and not that and not the other but is above it all bla bla bla bla..... He can not validate or offer evidence for a single word of his assertions about God. The God is there to empower you to be more deeply human (Now there is a load of horseshit and qualifies as the same crap the Buddhists have pushed for eons.)

"God is unfolding though our consciousness." STOLEN DIRECTLY FROM HINDUISM.

He is related to something that is not bounded by time and space. (Moronic statement completely without any foundation at all. I expect the god to the gaps in the form of the cosmological argument to come next.

The man is generally correct about the role of the church and religion, but makes the same stupid god claims as every other religion on the planet.

Awesome post Cog. Reminded me of one of my old faves ...
Christianity: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

I just realized that being an atheist does not come with a financial penalty. If I join a church somewhere I will have to shell out some coin.

Of course, worshiping Tin Man comes with a cost, someone has to buy the beer and WD-40.
