As atheists I believe we should hold ourselves to a higher standard. Not necessarily to "prove" ourselves, but to set an example. That being said, I am asking for your compassion. There is a rather large amount of homelessness in our area and one of the churches goes out to feed them once a week. The catch is, you don't get your food until after you listen to their service and sing their songs. We would like to help these human being, people just like us, with no strings attached. This season we will be giving out as much winter clothing, blankets, toiletries, diapers, etc. As we possibly can. I am asking for your help with this. Any little bit helps towards our goal and if you can't give then please share this so it reaches as many people as possible. The more people that see this, the higher the chances of someone not going to sleep in the cold on an empty stomach. Thank you for your kindness

I met a homeless man. I gave him money and tried to be nice to him for a while. He was a complete asshole to me.
Where I live there are no homeless people, so I might not be the right person to judge or make suggestions, however I more think that it is something the country must do, not just giving money away.
There should be a tax for it and professional people that know how to remove the problem altogether should handle those funds.
Giving your money to people who most probably don't know how to use that money wisely is not a long term solution to the problem.
