How very Christian-like

Anybody else seen this? How very Christian-like. Be prolife but take away every means of a mother supporting her unborn child.

This is one of the ubiquitous examples of Christian contradiction. The people you speak of either lack the ability or just choose to not empathize with other people. Make your case to a pro-lifer and I can almost guarantee their response will be "yeah what's wrong with that?"

Oh yeahhh... I remember

Oh yeahhh... I remember seeing that meme once a couple of years ago... that is, back in the good ol’ days before the image search results for the image searches “pro-choice” and “abortion” were taken over by a bunch of anti-choice, pro-Trump propaganda that also smears feminists and atheists for being mostly pro-choice.

Justin,

Justin,

That crappy attitude is actually expressed numerous times in the Bible. So if you expect people to be kind and generous it is not a good idea to expect it from Bible believers.

For example =

Deuteronomy 23:2 (KJV) = "A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord."

Sirach 12:7 (CEB) = "Give to good people, and don’t assist sinners."

Wisdom 3:16-19 (CEB) = "16 The children of adulterers, however, will come to nothing. The seed of people who have sex with others in violation of the Law will dry up. 17 Even if they live to old age, their lives won’t amount to anything. In their old age they will have no honor. 18 If they die young, they will have no hope or comfort on Judgment Day. 19 The family line of those who don’t do what is right will come to a bad end."

Since the incident involves a Catholic institution the people involved are probably aware of the ideas expressed in those verses.

Deuteronomy 23:2 (KJV) = "A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord."

I have absolutely the lowest possible opinion of KJV (or really any "holey" book.) But I still somehow am still surprised by just how terrible these books are.
I try to have a compassionate, respectful opinion of people that believe in religion, but my urge to scream: "have you even read the manual on your religion??" comes out, how can I possibly respect you if you believe in that shit?!? It is like trying to respect a grown adult that likes to dress up as a giant bunny and go around hiding "chocolate" eggs in weird places for kids to find.

strong>@Justin/thread<

I have debated a lot (mostly in other places then here,) about abortion, it is a fascinating philosophical discussion to me, I would enjoy if it I did not also know it is exceptionally cruel to pregnant women, especially the more vulnerable/poor ones.

First off, if it was men that carried babies to term and not women, (perhaps like a seahorse,) this would not even be a debate. It would be perfectly acceptable and normal and not even questioned for "men" to have abortions whenever they like. The made up gods/holey books would even defend this right, (after all, it is men who almost always write the holey books!) People would not even think twice, it would be about as routine and unpleasant like as going to the dentist office.

Another example at the risk of derailing this thread of about the terrible misogyny the entire abortion debate is: if tRump was caught on tape saying: "grab them by the dick and balls. You can do anything." "I did try to fuck HIM. He was married." etc does anyone doubt that tRump would of not been elected? That he would of lost by a landslide? Even if it meant to people that hate Hillary Clinton that Clinton would win? Ofcourse, but since he was talking about women, lots of people let it slide, "locker room talk," "he did not really mean it, boys will be boys!) Of course we are talking about a 50-60 year old man that is now the president of the United States.

In short: pro-lifers are misogynistic. And the rich, (females themselves or signficant other) are free to get abortions when ever they like where the poor and vulnerable? Not so much. And then the rich/privileged yell at the not so rich and privileged to not have kids they cannot afford...

I will abstain from doing a full on abortion rant unless someone wants to hear it. (Is that screaming in the background I hear of people saying "whatever you do don't get LogicFTW started on that topic!!!")

Soooooooo... You're saying that is NOT cool?... *throwing hands up in frustration*.... Well, ain't that just great! You have any idea how much money I just spent on my customized giant bunny suit??? Not to mention all the chocolate eggs I bought. NOW what am I suppose to do?!? The costume company that made it was very clear there would be no refunds. Supposedly, nobody else would be interested in that extra feature I requested be made into the suit. That was their excuse, at least. I don't know what the big deal is, though. It's only just a little "storage chute" that allows me to "lay" the chocolate eggs from beneath the bunny tail. Personally, I thought it was rather clever. What kid wouldn't love that? Even thinking about patenting it.

I mean I am okay with it, but

I mean I am okay with it, but parents of children seem awful sensitive about that stuff, dunno why though, they are okay with zombie jesus idea.

LogicFTW,

LogicFTW,

The Bible is OK with abortion. It really doesn't value children.

LogicFTW's picture
Of course it is, it would be

@Diotrephes

Of course it is not mentioned in the bible, it would be glaring obvious it was edited in later if it did mention "abortion is not okay." Seeing how abortion that did not carry a great risk of also killing the expectant mother was not available or even practiced much back when these books were supposedly written. It was not until the 20th century when antiseptic practices became widespread and death from childbirth was not frighteningly common.

Abortion as we know it today is definitely a modern invention compared to the supposed age "holey" books claim they were written.

@Diotrephes Oh, and remember the verse that says that the private parts of women at should be examined to see if they’re virgins or not... and that a man whose balls are damaged will not go to Heaven... Or how you should gouge out an eye if you look desiringly at someone...

Fed with cold and usurous hand?

Ewww! Someone didn't really

Ewww! Someone didn't really say abortion was not supported by the bible did they? That is like saying slavery is not supported by the bible. arakish: You beat me to all the quotes. I have won money from Christians on this one.
