As I was being educated as a catholic (if you'll forgive the expression) I got the distinct impression catlics are embarrassed by Revelations and like to pretend it doesn't exist. When I got around to reading the bible*** 16, it seemed obvious to me the author was either off his tits on something or simply insane. Still not really sure. Possibly both?
**The good brothers actively discouraged us from reading the bible '"lest you misunderstand". I kid you not. So naturally being 16, I read the bible cover to cover at the first opportunity. Mum noticed and was thrilled. -----------the good brothers were right, it confused the fuck out of me. Contradictions and just plain non-sense. That was the beginning of my disenchantment with the Catholic church. At that point I kept schtum---I was still at school, so played the game for a while longer.
