I am passionate about my cattle. I raise Simmental Cattle. They are Purebred Registered with the American Simmental Association. I am not trying to promote them. Just thought some might enjoy the pictures.

I like cattle. Slice mine thick and make it medium-rare.
Simmental are known for their carcass qualities and marbling. I use sires that have the best EPDs for those traits. Angus gets most of the attention because the American Angus Association does a great job of marketing but Simmental beat Angus in head-to-head carcass contests. Simmental are famous in custom restaurants for rib steaks and T-bone.

For your interest, assuming you are not aware:
There are approx. 100 Bos Taurus breeds in Australia. The most common are Angus, Hereford, Shorthorn ,Charolais and Limousin. I think Brahman are more polar in more arid regions.
You may be aware that Australia has a relatively small green coastal belt, with most of our country being arid and semi arid .That means our cattle stations (ranches) can be huge. The largest we have is Anna Creek Station in my state of South Australia , which is the world's largest working cattle station , 8000 square km ( 3,089 square miles) or 1,977,000 acres. --Contrary to a common boast, Anna Creek Station is quite a bit smaller than the State of Texas, which has 268,000 square miles,

Yes Sir. I enjoy sharing my pictures and it's a pleasure knowing you enjoyed them. I have a friend in Australia I met through the cattle forum who has an operation very similar to mine. He is also my age. Retired veterinarian. Australia is a big cattle producer and my forum acquaintance is a great guy. I would like to visit. I appreciate the invitation.
You might enjoy this. Most Animal Scientist recognize two species of domestic cattle. Bos taurus and Bos indicus. You will see them listed as separate species almost universally. However, it's incorrect. It is common knowledge that species are defined as organisms that are genetically isolated from other species. They don't (there are exceptions) interbreed and produce viable offspring.
Bos indicus are the Zebu influenced Bovine cattle. An example, Brahman ( BTW. very interesting, Brahman originated in Texas).
Now the punch line. When I got into cattle this didn't make sense to me so I did some research. If you go to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, they do not recognize Bos indicus as a separate species. The type species of domestic cattle is Bos taurus taurus and the indicus influenced cattle are recognized as a subspecies of Bos taurus. So we have:
Bos taurus taurus and Bos taurus indicus. I brought this up on the cattle forum and the damn hardheads refused to accept it.

Yeah, I knew Brahmans were developed in Texas, from the breed in India It is the most numerous breed of cattle in Australia. I didn't know that, I just read it.
