And then they came for me….

Georgia bill would allow 'scarlet letter' marking of non-citizen driver's licenses:

Yep, I'd get that "scarlet letter."

I wonder how long before they try to pass legislation here in Georgia that has one’s religious affiliation on your driver’s license as well?

Many nations have temporary

Many nations have temporary resident documents. Because the DL has become the defacto ID in the US (unlike EU and other places where there is a 'national identity' card), there is nothing bizarre or illegal about this.

To assume this will become a 'religion only' thing is just making stuff up.

Agree with NeverHappened. One could make all kinds of stuff up. People who are wanton victims think like that.

I did not assume that this will happen.

Additionally, at the risk of invoking Godwin’s law, and understanding the consequences, I will point out that such an occurrence is a matter of record for Jews in countries under Nazi occupation.

There are LOTS of things that

There are LOTS of things that are 'similar' to what happened to Jews under Nazis, primarily because many of the things were basically normal things.

The identification of people as citizens or temporary residents is a perfectly normal activity for most any government. I've been to other countries for work and I never expected to get a native citizen's drivers license. I had my US documents and passport, and certainly had no need to pass myself off as a citizen of that country. Indeed the identification on the license acknowledges that the person is here legally here and has the right to drive. That is not a bad thing.

The government has a legitimate interest in knowing citizens and foreign visitors. However religion and non religion is protected under the constitution and is another issue entirely. (Interestingly in several 'liberal' European nations, unlike US, your religion is part of your official papers.

If a contrast can be noted

If a contrast can be noted here my old military identification tags (Dog Tags) show the religious preference on them. You simply cannot get a dog tag without the religious preference noted on it. If you are an atheist they will emboss the words "NO RELIGIOUS PREFERENCE", meaning should you be mortally wounded you don't care which religious denomination presides over you for your last moments alive. A military chaplain is present when your dog tags are struck and ensures that no one gets "ATHEIST" struck on his tag. But, you have to have some form of religion or, no preference, stated on the tag. Is that kinda messed up? A man going off to get killed can't even have the option of dispensing with some fallacious religious drama hanging over him even as he gasps his last breath of air. That's seriously messed up.

I would like to see something

I would like to see something like this for people who shouldn't have firearms. A No Gun Purchase (NGP) on the drivers license would make sense for someone who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc would make a lot of sense. Also for domestic abusers and the like.
