I can't imagine countries declaring a religious war. The jihadis waging war right now have not been endorsed publicly by any country have they? If it's a religious world war, which is the only possibility for a world war imo, then I'd start digging or look for a spaceship about to leave. A proper religious war would most likely involve one side, the side with less chances of a victory, going nuclear.
Fun scruples question! But I Agree with Anurraagg, the possibilitiy of MAD (mutually assured destruction) is just too high for religious zealots who are convinced total destruction of the opposing forces is the only godly answer. I personally would dig a 500 yard tunnel into the earth and hope for no direct nuclear hits on my position. Then attempt a retreat to an uneffected area. best bet for survival. but still unlikely.
wow so there is no other things to choose, besides The communist? Christians? or Islam? that is messed up man, what about the rational side where none of the ideology's are , with the sane people with real solutions to the problems at hand . the chance of a war between the big countries now is so unlikely that is laughable to even to think about it. and even if it did why would a atheist be with groups like The communist? Christians? or Islam?.
I find the implication that atheists will take a side in some poorly defined, hypothetical armed conflict, based on who is which type of theist or communist a bit silly. I no more want to see armed conflict in Cuba than I do in Saudi Arabia. Because you see in armed conflicts people get hurt, they get hurt very badly.
I would side with none of them. I dont support the religious or political ideals of these groups. even if one of those groups shared my values (which wouldnt actually make sense seeing as they are going to war) im not willing to sacrifice my self for them.
All three are or can be oppressive. Dissenters could be seen as heretics and sympathizers and risk death. I would suspect that a modern religions war would be nuclear. You can send more people to hell that way faster. Plus, don't religions use fire as a symbol of divine cleansing or punishment, which would make nuclear the way to go.
