Deme3 - I'm gonna say this

Deme3 - I'm gonna say this again, we are living in an indifferent universe, there was never a word such as good or bad or morality, only the laws of physics.

I actually agree with that! That being said:

Actions have consequences. If I find those consequences to be undesirable, I might be lazy and use the word bad to describe those actions instead of the phrase undesirable consequences.

and if one is unhappy about

and if one is unhappy about this lifestyle, they would start gathering conspiracy theories and then inevitably end up an atheist.

Oh, the standard remark.
Presupposing the existence of something, without any evidence to substantiate a claim.

Atheists claim that God doesn't exist(pretty obvious), but how do they make this claim?

Its far simplar, There is no evidence to support such a notion.
Everything in the cosmos functions perfectly via naturalistic means and needs no deistic requirement.

why do they judge, look, analyze any kind of religion on grounds of morality

Because religion has attempted to take morality hostage and claim that it is god given.
Firstly, that is wrong, it is influenced by societies since the dawn of time (hence why rare untouched cultures can still do things we consider moral, without religion influencing).
Secondly, To claim morality is taken from god or his teaching, or is a gift from him/her, one has to again, presuppose a deity.
You still have not proved this thing even exists.

we are living in an indifferent universe

Correct, well done.

even though there are no proofs for such statement

The very first homosapien would have likely figured out without using morality that working with another can gather more food, equipment and materials.
Once groups form, what we deem as good and bad things would take place, In order to maintain the group, the alpha or leader would likely kill off or banish those doing anything that breaks the cohesion of the unit.
This could be interpreted as the very beginning of morality to some very small degree, where what helps the group thrive is considered 'good' and anything 'bad' is not tolerated.

For example, killing another member of the group probably was fine until it was deemed to have and impact upon:
a) the group as a whole
b) the leaders within the group
c) a mating partner

and so on.

I am not claiming the above is true, but hey, its far more likely then some bloody mythical universal wizard just puffing stuff out of thin air!

Mods? Can we end the blind

Mods? Can we end the blind assertions and attributes?
Atheists, after all are just a bunch of people who are unhappy with religion. (No Evidence)
It's evident that they are influenced by religion, (No Evidence)
end up an atheist.

Atheists claim that God doesn't exist. (He has been told a hundred times this is not the case.)

THE FOLLOWING IS TRRUE - BUT DOES HE HAVE A RESPONSE FOR US?
"If God is so perfect, why would He command someone to kill a children?, do you think killing a kid is bad?", or sometimes, "God make the eternal hell for us, to torture those who doesn't worship him, so God is so graceless, He couldn't be real" but mostly, "Do you have evidence that God exists?". They would complain about all the killings in the Bible, Quran. Not only God, Allah too, they would ask the muslims, " Your prophet Mohammed is a killer, a guy who raped and discriminated women", well, enough of that."

NO! MORE WILD UNSUBSTANTIATED ASSERTIONS:
"From the point of atheism, we are living in an indifferent universe, "INDIFFERENT"."

HE ASKS A RHETORICAL QUESTION, ANSWERS IT HIMSELF AND THEN MAKES ANOTHER INANE ASSERTION WITHOUT FACTS TO SUPPORT IT.
"It's obvious, influenced by religion, they started to believe that killing is bad, stealing is bad, raping is bad etc."

MORE SUPERFICIAL BLATHERING AND DISJOINTED LOGIC WITH A BIZARRE ASSERTION"
"there was never a word such as good or bad or morality, only the laws of physics. So that means you can kill people whenever you want?"

MORE INANE ASSERTIONS WITHOUT FACTS OR EVIDENCE AND CONTRARY TO WHAT HE HAS BEEN TOLD 101 TIMES NOW.
"So, I'm sorry to say, atheism is a "belief" that God doesn't exist,"

NOW HE REVERTS TO PRESUPPOSITIONAL APOLOGETIC B.S.
"" Atheists are without the proof that killing is bad, suicide bombing is bad, killing a child is bad, waging wars is bad, yet these statements are one of the reasons why they are atheist, how they proof that religion is bull..."

Atheists have culture, the expansion of human learning, evolution and a steady progression of moral behavior for as long as we remember. (Christians have magical dictates from an all powerful invisible, non-corporal, flying sky thing who loves killing for any reason at all.)

MORE STUPID ASSERTIONS:
"They came up with a new morality with their three pound brain(which they derive from religion), to convince people that these stuffs are bad, even though there are no proofs for such statement."

"They (Atheists) they have no proof that killing.

This is an armature presuppositionalist who imagines he is making points with his unsubstantiated BS. He is incapable of logical discourse.

As is evidenced in his following response to my post.... Morality has evolved with the human species. From small clans that worried about division of labor, who would eat first, and what ownership was to villages with social order, prescribed positions, division of labor, social rules and mores. As intelligence increased so did the sense of morality and the logic behind morality. Human beings are social animals. We survive by working together. A human in the wild would not survive. He would not have the strength of a bear, the claws of a tiger, the speed of a cheetah, the armor of a rhino, the size of an elephant, the stealth of a lizard, the teeth of a crocodile, the climbing ability of a monkey, or the flight of a bird. Humans survive by forming groups and getting along with one another. Hence the development of morality.

Morality can not be dictated to you by an all powerful being who threatens you with heaven or rewards you with hell. Moral dictates are not MORAL. If you mother tells you to be kind to your sister and she will give you five dollars, and then you are kind to your sister, YOU ARE NOT BEHAVING MORALLY. You are only trying to get the five dollars. You are acting out of self interest and greed. Similarly; if your mother tells you that you are going to get a beating if you are not kind to your sister, and then you are kind to your sister, you are not engaged in moral behavior. All you are doing is avoiding punishment. The God hypothesis fails at every turn. Your god is like the Godfather saying, "I got an offer for you that you can not refuse." (While he has a gun to your head.) There is nothing moral in religion or religious values. As long as God is an external dictate of morality by penalty of Hell or reward of Heaven, it is not possible to act in a moral fashion. Even if you did, it only looks like you are trying to please your God to anyone watching. You can not try to please God and be moral at the same time.

Allow me to continue, so human forms groups and stuffs....then they and "some monkey with a typewriter" still thought that they were living in a universe that cares, they did good things to people thinking that it would bring them good omens. So, there they went, increasing in intellectual, evolution did the part. Suddenly, one guy came up with the fact that the universe is governed by laws, not omens, some people began to realize that they're not that great, but physics, only physics governed by that very law, not some sort of some morality.

Atheism does not require a

Atheism does not require a belief.

Atheists are not necessarily unhappy with religion.

Atheism only represents a lack of belief in the gods - it does not represent anything abut the universe.

Statements such as "killing is bad" are moral statements, and are inherently subjective.

Atheism only represents a lack of belief in the gods - it does not say anything abut morality.

Theists limit themselves to arguments about morality when they are unable to resort to matters of fact.

Sigh, complete erroneous

Sigh, complete erroneous nonsense. You can't even get basic word definitions correct.

Atheism is the lack or absence of belief in a deity or deities. Nothing more.

An atheist is a person who doesn't believe in a deity or deities. Though any atheist may believe or not believe anything they are minded to beyond this one belief they don't hold. However until an atheist tells you, you can't assume anything about them.

Sheldon's picture
Do you really need to be told

Do you really need to be told that behaviours like murder and rape are pernicious?

That's bizarre. I would be horrified if someone I cared about were murdered or raped, so why on earth would I think such behaviours were ever morally acceptable?

Your deity on the other hand has committed indiscriminate murder in your bible, and encouraged it's followers to do likewise. Also rapine and sex trafficking women and girlstaken as prisoners after ethnic cleansing. Your deity endorses slavery in the bible, in both old and new testament. Even Jesus is purported to have endorsed slavery in the bible.

Do you think that torturing a human is ever morally acceptable? Jesus seemed to think so, and gave us the concept of everlasting torture in hell.

Don't lecture atheists on morality, it's absurd.

Some of the most moral societies in the developed west are overwhelmingly secular and atheist. Countries like Denmark and Sweden for example.

Krombopulos Michael's picture
Hell isn't made for us, and I

Hell isn't made for us, and I'd be happy if you can tell me where in the Bible God endorses slavery, in both new and old testament, especially where Jesus purported to have indorsed slavery in the Bible.

According to Wikipedia, Denmark seems to be around 70% Christian.

Why on earth would you think such behaviors were ever morally acceptable? You are probably raise in a society which says that murdering is bad

@ Shelden

@ Shelden

Exodus 21 is a real gem. Here's verses 4, 5 and 6:

"4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.

5 “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,

6 then his master must take him before the judges.[a] He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life."

The good news is that the slave will then have a nicely pierced ear and finally have some place to put that gold post he's been holding onto. You just have to look at the positives in these verses!

...and BTW, thanks for making Deme3 happy. It shows that athiests, even in their fog of moral indecisiveness, truly do care about the happiness of others.

Phil Zuckerman (Author)

"You are probably raise in a society which says that murdering is bad"
So what, you claimed as an atheist I shouldn't care, so which is it? Can violent crimes like murder and rape be shown to be objectively bad, or not?

I note you ignore your bible's claims that your deity committed indiscriminate mass murder, and genocide. That's fairly dishonest.

How do you feel your religious morals should be viewed when the bible claims your deity tortured a newborn baby to death over 7 days, just because it was angered that the baby was conceived in an adulterous affair? How about that deity encouraging rapine, and sex trafficking of women and girls, is that moral to you?

Sapporo's picture

Deme3: Hell isn't made for us, and I'd be happy if you can tell me where in the Bible God endorses slavery, in both new and old testament, especially where Jesus purported to have indorsed slavery in the Bible.

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him." - Ephesians 6:5-9

Christianity promotes slavery both on earth and in heaven.
