On the topic of the recent protests, this struck me as very profound.
Some people seem to be prioritising the wrong part, Trump certainly seems to give that impression.

One thing Trudeau is, which Trump lacks, is empathic (in the ability to empathize - not the woo-woo use) and a tendency towards idealism. I always saw it as a but of weakness and nativity, however it does encompass a Canadian strength we do tend to share (despite ourselves). Why do you think we’re known for our “sorry’s, eh?!?!”

Some ugly clashes with police in London. A small core of protestors attacked police, threw missiles including bicycles at mounted police causing one police horse to bolt, the policewoman thrown from the horse sustained quite severe injuries.
There are also fears that these mass protests will cause spikes in spread of Covid 19.
While the anger at racism is justified, and peaceful protest a cornerstone of democracy, I do wonder if this kind of mass gathering is the best way to protest in the current pandemic.
I'm torn between the legal right and moral duty to protest, and the inevitable danger to public safety. There are always those just looking for clashes with the police, who sadly recognised any large gathering as an opportunity. I hope the police officer makes a speedy recovery from her injuries, and that the guilty are swiftly caught and justice served.
Hopefully all of this global action will at least have a positive effect on tackling racism.
The COVID is one of the first thing I thought of. Stats should tell us more in the next 2-3 weeks.
I do not agree with the looting or violence- I agree some look for opportunities to engage in criminal activity...and “get away” with it. (Hmmmm regardless of color, “people” with certain personalities enjoy criminal acts)

I do not mean to hog the thread ;) but I have been assess current events and what meaning they have for me and in turn society in general.
I took a test (by Harvard lol) and discovered I am moderately preferential to the Caucasian race. At first, I thought “whaaaa????”, I’ve dated outside my race and personally assess people on their character and actions. So I thought about it. In my area, from the time I was born, I was only exposed to “Caucasian faces”. TV/media started to change that and then Canadian immigration through the decades as well. My exposure to other races and cultures has evolved and grown through my life. I also chuckled because I had linked at one point (to remember better) in the test the “b” words black/bad whereas I was always thinking w/b or b/g or w/g and then b/b - the mental “sound association” made it easier....so I don’t “know”. And preference isn’t the same as prejudice. I prefer, physically, larger chubbier men to shorter, skinny ones (for whatever reason I find it more attractive) but I’m not prejudiced against small skinny men (make sense?)
I don’t know how society in general will come to terms with the issues the protests worldwide are raising. I don’t know “what filters” each person, tribe, nation, institution is running the current events through - nor do I have “control” over how it will be “decided”. My boys told me outright that they are prepared for the “white guilt” that they are now receiving online and I was once told to “shut up” because of “white-privilege” ...
I just hope that as a whole we continue on the path of exposing, discussing, acceptance ... after all, that’s how women “were given” their recognition and “segregation” was ended and “religious” abuses have been addressed and investigated...
