Only Man Behaves With Such Gratuitous Folly

“You never see animals going through the absurd and often horrible fooleries of magic and religion. Only man behaves with such gratuitous folly. It is the price he has to pay for being intelligent but not, as yet, quite intelligent enough.”

-Aldous Huxley

I have often thought about

I have often thought about this curse that come along with the intelligence of man. I Have often asked or posed the question, "Are we really more intelligent than these animals who are not bothered my the things we conjure as meaningful?" what is God to a dog for example have you ever tried to argue the existence or non existence of God with the animal we would call by the same name spelled backward. if you have the dog may have even tried to understand you at first but likely quickly bored of your silliness. Try with a cat, try with a bird you will get nowhere because to these animals you can not explain something that does not exist. they are more real they are down to earth the rules are simple live, survive, eat, rest, sleep don;t do things that cause you to much discomfort respect and I'll respect you. Fight for what is right fight for what is yours fight for your life and your right to live it live so much as your willing to fight for it. But they are not entertained by my notions of some god or notions of set of rules outside their basic instincts. We are we have money religion and other things liek social structure that have afforded us at one time or another ease of living with these things we have gone far and wide and in a way forgotten how to live. and many of wish for a better life. To an animal it is simple, just live and don't worry about all that bullshit. Just do what you got to do to be comfortable and live a better life.

I am not saying we should just throw out all the progress we have made but I do think we should in some ways return to nature, all this discovery we have has caused for this world more harm than it has good. Religion helped us build social structure in the past but I don't feel we need it anymore, we have learned enough to take what is good from it and cut out the bullshit. We can now use our knowledge to make a better world rather than destroy it but now religion holds us back rather than propels us forward as a race. Animal have a lot to teach us about how to live.
