Pakistani Model Strangled to Death by Brother in “Honor-Killing”

On July 11, 2021, Muhammad Aslam (referred to as Muhammad Ali in other sources) reported to the Defense B police station that his step-sister had been murdered and raped. Aslam discovered her sister’s body on the floor during his visit to her house on July 9. The victim is Nayab Nadeem, a 29-year old Pakistani model who recently returned from a trip to Dubai.

Muslim Mob Attacks Hindu Temple; Pakistan Deploys Military In Response

On Aug. 4, a Muslim mob swarmed a Hindu temple in Bhong City in the Rahim Yar Khan district in the Punjab region in Pakistan. According to Asif Raza, an officer of the police in Bhong city, the mob was riled up by the court's decision to bail an 8-year old Hindu child. The boy, who remains unnamed, deliberately urinated on a carpet in a Muslim library. 

Funeral of Ahmadi Woman Attacked By Pakistani Mob

On June 5, a funeral procession of an Ahmadi woman in Safdarabad, Punjab, was attacked on its way to the cemetery by a local mob led by right-wing Muslim clerics. The mob opposed the idea of having an Ahmadi person being buried near a Muslim graveyard.

 

Pakistani Court Grants Bail to Christian In Blasphemy Case

Nabeel Masih, a 16-year-old Christian, was accused by Akhtar Ali on September 18, 2016, of committing blasphemy in a Facebook post. Ali claimed the post “defamed and disrespected” the Kaaba in Mecca. Ali also claimed that he and some friends discovered a picture on Masih’s timeline depicting a pig on top of the Kaaba.

Pakistani Court Frees Terrorist Who Killed American Journalist Daniel Pearl

On January 28th, the terrorist convicted (and later acquitted) of the 2002 abduction and beheading of Daniel Pearl, was ordered to be released by Pakistan’s Supreme Court.  The court also dismissed an appeal of the killer’s, Ahmad Saeed Omar Sheikh, acquittal filed by Pearl’s family and the Pakistani government.
