I am starting a blog about debunking religion. I will be exploring how both science and logic tear apart the so called truths of the major religions. This will be just as much an exploration for me as it will be for readers. Any suggestions for topics or for good evidence and arguments against religion are welcome.

I always find that the fact there is no evidence from non bias sources at the time as fairly substantial.
For arguement sake... Christianity, the Romans were very good at documenting their history and the only reference made to Jesus is regarding his crusifiction, and that was by Roman historian and senator Tacitus.
He wrote this in his book Annals in 116AD!
Thanks, Random. I'm definitely focusing my next blog post on Jesus.
Doesn't this already exist online??
Of course! As I wrote, it's also so I myself can learn more through the process of writing about it. Let's hope authors continue to write and put new spins on previously published topics.
I would almost start with something like: evidence that religion is not truth is overwhelming an incredibly long and complex list. Where as the evidence that religion is truth, is a small list. Then go about explaining why that small list does not work either.
To me, religion as a whole as been reduced to just a few arguments left of: why god is real.
"the complexity argument"
"the what came first/first cause argument"
"argument of popularity/history/tradition"
-beyond the general weakness of these arguments, all 3 of these also completely fail to prove any particular god, but only the possibility of some sort of "greater being" that might of played some sort of a very NON-godlike role.
Lots of theist like to use "the morale argument" and arguments from their particular holy book. Both of those to me are completely invalid/ridiculous arguments, but you could take a few fun moments destroying those as well.
-The morale argument is a simple play on words, and morphing of word definitions to suit the theist and confuse everyone, (including the theist.)
-The holy book argument is like using the story of Rudolph the red nose reindeer to try and prove Santa Claus is real.
I thought of starting with Christianity. Show many of the contradictions in the Bible. Then show the failed prophecies. Then show the lack of evidence for Jesus. Show how the religion has actually harmed humankind, ie, support for slavery, subjugation of women, support of prejudice. How it currently holds us back: teaching creationism in many public schools, oppression o LGBT community, subjugation of women still, teaching people not to use their critical thinking skills, and so on. Also all the genocide and violence the Bible supports. The prejudice it supports and teaches. How can anyone view these facts and still support Christianity is beyond me.
I'm open to other ideas.
I would suggest that you start with a thorough and deep understanding of each religious idea about which you plan to write. If, as you've said, you want to start with a particular tenet from xtianity, then study how all the bush-zillion denominations regard it. Otherwise you may just end up with a who,e bunch of, "Not me! My church doesn't believe it that way!"
Thanks, CyberLN!
