Hello there my fellow Atheists! My name is Anthony and moments ago I joined the Atheist Republic! So to celebrate i'm going to make a short story about Atheism. It'll be a fiction story with fantastic sci-fi elements.
So to start off i'm going to ask this question: When you hear the word Atheist, what is the first word, thought, experience or feeling that comes to mind?
I think about Freedom, glasses, inward pain (not being able to come out to certain people for fear of their perception of you changing negatively), being on a stage, art, revolution, confidence, a happy future for Atheists, the father like action of opening other's eyes to the likely truth and my current purpose in life (of being a huge activist for Atheism).

lol kidding
"smarter" is the fist thing that comes to mind.
But this my bias(I think that the fist thing that comes to mind is your personal bias)
What I truly think, is that I am wrong in my bias.
An atheist can also be a stupid person and is an atheist for the wrong reasons.
eg: never heard of any theistic religion before.
Persecution, that is what comes to mind when I hear the word atheist.
Not so much in Britain we seem to have outgrown that although people still don't advertise their lack of belief.
But in much of the rest of the world persecution against atheist is unfortunately definitely still rampant.
People in utah worry about jobs and social standing people in islamic countries worry about losing their life. Sad to know its all meaningless as they have no proof for their belief or for the lies they believe about atheists.
Actually in Britain your job can be lost if you are an open atheist, especially if you are in the teaching profession.
Wtf last census had only 54% of britain claiming to be christian and we know from church attendance more than half of them dont even go to church i thought we were better than that now.
Have you any links about people being fired in britain for being atheist i just checked its against the religious discrimination act as it covers atheism because its a profound world view.
