I just died a bit or something.

On another forum a guy posted a public video of a Mexican cartel revenge crime. I am more ignorant of the world than I thought. The sheer violent, sick brutality humans are capable of and the images.... Never click guys no matter how curious you are. There are entire websites of this stuff with huge following all accessable by Google. How is it even legal.

Seriously I see the world different,. I never used a counsellor before, I think I need to talk to a professional. How does one book a counsellor and what do you say the appointment is for??

Never click people, never click...it ain't worth it.

I can't eat or sleep.

That's very hard.

That's very hard.

You'll probably need to sleep with the lights on for a while, and reassure yourself by being in the company of others.

In regards counselling, if you are asked, just say it is due to some traumatic event. If you see a doctor first for a general appointment, they would probably recommend a counsellor and sort that out for you.

I think your reaction is

I think your reaction is common among the average population of many Western countries. We are so separated from death, brutality and the realities of the world that we freak out when we actually see them.

Unfortunately for others of us, the reality of death and dying is as natural as watching the change of the seasons. 70% of the population of the world lives below the poverty line. Wife and child abuse are widespread even in normal Western homes.

I watched the last video of good Christians in Nigeria burning witches to death. It was sick. People just standing around watching old people thrown into a ditch burn to death while young boys hit them with branches and kicked them back into the ditch. PRAISE THE LORD and kill the witches. I would leave the link but it violates all the rules. The above is probably borderline violent but not so horrible as to be removed.

Having traveled the world and having worked with the dying, both in the emergency room in the hospital and as a social worker, I can tell you that the world is a whole lot different than most people believe. Especially if you grew up in a middle class neighborhood without gangs and wannabe gang-bangers in the school system.

You should plan a trip to the Philippines, India, China, Cambodia, or one of the poorer South American countries if you really want your eyes opened up. And all this poverty and abuse is coming to America.

Cognostic,

Cognostic,

"I watched the last video of good Christians in Nigeria burning witches to death. It was sick. People just standing around watching old people thrown into a ditch burn to death while young boys hit them with branches and kicked them back into the ditch."

I just watched the video. It's so biblical.

Exodus 22:18 (KJV) = "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

John 15:6 (NKJV) = "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."

Religion is harmful to your health.

While I may not have seen the exact video of which you speak, I have seen others like it. Moreover, however, I have actually seen just as bad or worse than that up close and in person many times before. Just like Cog said, life is real. And reality is often brutal and harsh. Wish it did not have to be that way, but it is what it is. In America (and most any other "westernized" country), the majority of the citizens outside of the inner city slum areas are pretty much isolated from such violence and savagery. But just because they do not see it directly does not mean it does not exist. Sad, but true.

I sincerely hate the video disturbed you as much as you say. And if was indeed that traumatic for you, then counseling may very well help. Based on your post, I am guessing you live in an environment that is fairly well isolated from such hardships and violence. Again I will echo Cog and tell you to be thankful for that. I have seen many, many, many people in many other countries and even within the U.S. who are not nearly as fortunate, and they struggle to simply survive on a day-to-day basis.

By the way, if you need somebody to talk to and vent in private, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks man appreciate it. I

Thanks man appreciate it. I am changed but fine.

I consciously block out the intrusive thoughts with engaging activities that need a lot of focus eg lifting big weights etc. I bought a packet of cigarettes after quitting and it helps.
I am a robust strong guy, just got shook.

I wouldn't post proof of the clip because someone else might end up where I did/am.

Thing is I grew up rural, we know death and nature's brutality from a young age.

I have even been in underground cultures of folks from normal life doing hidden things like steroids and know there are worlds within worlds but nothing compared to the brutality in the clip done so matter of fact like a tradesman going about his chores while listening to FM radio in the background.

Trump's Wall sounds like a good idea all of a sudden, the cartels are not crazy like a Jeffrey Dharmer, which makes their actions more terrifying ie just another day at work for them.

There are certainly a few

There are certainly a few places in Texas that I would not want to live. The violence is real. The same thing is going on in Chicago and down town LA as well as NYC. The exact same things,

A century ago Belgian Christians used to cut off black Africans' hands every day. They wanted them to work harder.

Nothing much to add to what the others have said other than seeking out a counselor is a good idea. Specify you need a trauma counselor, and be aware you may have to see a couple before you hit on one you gel with. Hopefully you'll get lucky first go, but you might not. I'm telling you this because people have been known to dismiss counselling altogether because they had a bad experience with one counselor.

Ya, this is something I

Ya, this is something I struggle with. I have accidentally seen some brutal shit on the internet and am dumbfounded by the capacity for cruelty that a a higher functioning brain is capable of. The ironic thing is that having a higher capacity brain like primates and some other mammals increases the capacity for compassion as well. So we become these really conflicted things capable of greater acts of love and compassion than any other creature and, at the same time, greater acts of horror and violence. One side of our psyche cannot fathom the motivations of the other. When a person who would never harm anyone finds their teeth being shattered on a rode side curb for expressing sexuality the wrong way or having the wrong beliefs, or a woman has her body mutilated in a public display just because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, it becomes really hard to think there may be redeemable qualities to intelligent life. And you just want to fucking kill everyone involved in the acts.... creating an endless loop. We really need to get work on creating a benevolent AI that has the power to put safety noodles on all of the sharp edges we keep running our faces into and ground us from our toys when we use them wrong.

Read my Soul Shatter sharing.

Additionally, I have seen some horrible videos during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Videos you won't see on TV news anymore...

Nothing really surprises me anymore. Yes, it horrifies me and makes me sick, but does not surprise anymore.

It probably isn't helpful for

It probably isn't helpful for people to mention all the horrific ways in which humans suffer, particularly in graphic detail. I also don't think it is right to act as though violence is a normal part of life.

if you want you we can push

if you want you we can push on practicing purge day.

watch the movie "The Purge"

just watch the first part of it. starring Ethan Hawke

In an America ravaged by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government sanctions an annual 12-hour period during which all criminal activity -- including murder -- is legal. James Sandin (Ethan Hawke) and his family face the ultimate test when an intruder drags the vicious outside world into their home. James, Mary (Lena Headey) and their two children struggle to survive the night while trying not to turn into monsters like the ones they are striving to avoid.

imagine if this will be sanction in america

Qu@si,

Qu@si,

"watch the movie "The Purge""

That's the "do unto others as you will have them do unto you" trope. No matter how many times you do other people wrong you will eventually end up on the wrong end of the stick.

Cognostic's picture
The real horror is that most

The real horror is that most humans can be manipulated into creating horrific acts. If religion has demonstrated nothing at all to us, it has demonstrated that. Can Darren Brown convince someone to commit murder? What do you think?

I have been exposed to what

I have been exposed to what many consider traumatic events since an early age. I was taught that if I killed something (while hunting), I I was the one who had to skin and butcher the animal. There's a good reason why farmers do not name their livestock, but instead allocate numbers. When you have butchered a hog, you understand why.

I do not want to go down a very long list, but it hardens a person, something more people require. But my exposure and experience has also driven home the imperative that all life is very precious.
