Really???.... *beaming smile*... Hot damn!!!.... *bouncing up and down while clapping excitedly*... Oh boy oh boy oh boy!.... *speaking through megaphone*.... Okay, gang! Listen up! Much work to be done! Any graphic designers in here? We need a gang logo ASAP! It should be simple, yet sophisticated, and most definitely scream "bad-ass"! And everybody needs to go out and buy a gnarly looking leather vest! Once the logo is designed and approved, I will be in charge of stitching it on the back of everybody's vest! Hey, Old Man! You are our resident tricycle expert, so you will be responsible for procuring a tricycle for every AR member! Oh, and you are authorized to use any means necessary! After all, we ARE evil disciples! Cog and Random, help him out with that!... *thinking*.... Okay, Nyar and Sheldon! Hope you two don't mind being in charge of "the books". Once we get this gang up and running, we will obviously be having a flood of ill-gotten gains pouring in, and you two are just the guys for the job of washing it squeaky clean! Arakish! We need an enforcer! Gather together a crew that you will command! Okay, that's all for now! Other assignments will be made as the tasks present themselves! GET MOVING, PEOPLE! Chop-chop! Let's make this a gang The Evil One can be proud of!

This is what I have thrown together in the time since your post. Over half that time was spent searching for an image. Already had the flames.

Careful. It is a rather large file. Made it the size of my monitor before even thinking about the size.

Current Fee: $1,432; payable in cash or cashier's check. >:P

@Arakish Re: Logo

NICE! I like where you are going with that. However, it needs to be refined just a touch to make it easier to put on a large patch to be sewn on the backs of our leather vests. A little more simplified and slightly more sophisticated should do the trick. And don't fret the fee. We can steal the money for that later. It will make The Evil One happy.

No worries, Mr. Rat Spit. Everything is under control. Once we get our gang of disciples fully organized and looking spiffy on our new tricycles, we will be a force to be reckoned with. I'm sure we can make The Evil One proud! After all, he's been waiting around for several eons, so a few more weeks shouldn't be a problem, right? I mean, c'mon! The logistics alone for something like this can be a real pain in the ass. But we have some pretty smart folks in here, so it shouldn't be a problem.

And, ethically speaking, you Atheists are not held to any kind of moral standard? Is that correct? Could you sacrifice a few infants in His Name? He’d be oh so pleased! Maybe kill a few virgins while you’re in the process?

But seriously; the issue I have with Athiests is that a) they don’t answer to any moral standard and yet b) I don’t see any of you out there with AK47’s attempting to overthrow the government! What’s the deal there? Afraid of death? No reliable way of forming large parties?

@Rat Spit

Re: "...they (atheists) don’t answer to any moral standard..."

Sure we do. It just happens to be our own individual moral standards developed from our own unique individual upbringings and societies. Nothing too complicated or mysterious about it. For whatever reason(s), however, that somehow scares the bajeebies out of theists. Not really sure why... *scratching head in confusion*...

Re: "I don’t see any of you out there with AK47’s attempting to overthrow the government! What’s the deal there? Afraid of death? No reliable way of forming large parties?"

Yeah... About that... You see, here is something waaaaay too many people do not understand. As an atheists, I DO NOT CARE how or what anybody else thinks or believes... As long as they do not try to force those thoughts and beliefs on me or others.... And as long as those thoughts and beliefs cause no harm to me or others. And while I cannot/will not speak for all atheists out there, I am still willing to bet there are many who would agree with me on that.

I spent seventeen years in the military helping protect the rights of American citizens to worship in whatever way they choose. And I am an absolute firm believer in that is the way it should be. And that includes the right to not believe in any silly gods or religions. Unfortunately, a majority of the theist groups out there do not see it that way. In their minds, it is "their way or the highway." Personally, I would simply laugh it off as childish behavior, but sadly it is a serious problem that is creeping more and more into our government and creating a stranglehold on any other groups or individuals who refuse to play by their ridiculous rules. But - hey - that's just a personal observation. Anyway, that aside, I have zero desire to overthrow or take over any government. I simply want to live my life as best I can and not have anybody fuck with me or my family. Not too much to ask, as far as I am concerned. Besides, as I have said before, trying to organize a group of independent, free-thinking, critical thinking atheists to do much of anything (much less overthrowing a government) would be about as much fun as trying to herd a group of kittens in an open field full of butterflies. Sooooo, yeah, probably no need to worry about any atheist uprisings any time soon.

What!?! Not even for the Evil One. Virgins are for pleasure.

Didn't it say somewhere in that Unholy Book, "Thou shalt keep the young women who have not known a man for yourselves."

Or am I thinking of the wrong book?

"you Atheists are not held to

"you Atheists are not held to any kind of moral standard?"

Of course we are, we just don't pretend they come from a fictional deity. It's probably why in most research atheists are generally better behaved and more law abiding.

In the US violent crime stats show a disproportionately high number of theists entering the prison system for crimes like rape and murder.

It's not surprising really, I mean how immoral would a person have to be if they need to be **told that crimes like murder and rape are immoral. Or like yourself implying they wouldn't desist from such crimes if they lost their superstitious beliefs.

People who blindly obey rules are not being moral, even if the pretend those rules come from a deity. Even "good" Nazis managed that much, and the SS that ran the death camps were all Christians, you had to be a Christian before you were allowed in.

Ah. No disrespect. I salute your 17 years of service to your country. That being said - you mention you are content as long as no one is pushing anything on you - as long as no one is messing with you or your family. Doesn’t this 1 % of the population owning 80 % or more of the wealth ... does not this aristocracy of the rich bother you? And, again with all due respect, can an Atheist live and die for a principle in the same way a radical Islamist will put his life at stake for Allah? And the OverLord is watching and all that of course ...

Re: "Doesn’t this 1 % of the population owning 80 % or more of the wealth ... does not this aristocracy of the rich bother you?"

*smiling while typing*... Fantastic question, good sir. I actually enjoy these types of discussions. The "One Percenters" are who they are, and they do what they do. I have absolutely ZERO control over that. And, quite frankly, I would not trade places with any one of them even if given the opportunity. I like who I am, and I totally love the life I have had and the life I currently lead. True, those "One Percenters" do control a majority of the wealth and power in this country and world. And, yes, they can manipulate and control policies and such that can have a direct and/or indirect effect on me and my family. Okay. So what? As I said, there is absolutely nothing I can do about that. So why would I want to waste time worrying about it? If something happens, I will deal with it accordingly. Until that time, I prefer to focus on the good things I currently have and be happy while I can. Pretty simple, really.

Re: "...can an Atheist live and die for a principle..."

Atheism is nothing more than a lack of belief in any god or gods. Period. Beyond that, an atheist is an individual person with individual thoughts, beliefs, morals, hopes, dreams, and principles that vary widely from person to person. Therefore, in regards to your question, I cannot speak for other atheists. Speaking for myself, however, I can tell you I would absolutely kill and die for certain principles I hold. And there have been countless times over the years I have put my very own life at risk for that very reason. And, yes, I would not hesitate to kill for certain principles I hold dear. And God, Jesus, Allah, Odin, Zeus, the OverLord, or whoever are welcomed to stand by and observe all they want. If they actually DO exist, it is evident that is all they ever do anyway.

Indeed, a balanced life of

Indeed, a balanced life of work, rest and play is all one seemingly requires to be content.

However. The world is becoming more and more corporatized and my generation is looking at jobs that do not lead to careers. That isn’t an all encompassing statement. I know of a lot of my generation who have worked hard to find enough money to buy a home and start a family. But for a lot of deserving youngsters- the crack is getting bigger and bigger and more and more are falling through.

May we continue this tomorrow? It is quitting time in my part of the world.

As Redd said in that prison movie (Shawshank Redemption), "Ain't that the God Damn truth."

You correct in that observation. It is getting to where you can no longer "specialize" into one thing. You have to "diversify" your skills and knowledge. Like I have. Geology, Volcanology, Geography, Cartography, Astrophysics, Celestial Mechanics, damn I can't even remember them all. Oh well. You and I are on the same page.
