1. Peter Vlaming, a former teacher at West Point High School in Virginia, has filed a lawsuit against the West Point School Board after they fired him for refusing to use the proper pronoun when referring to a transgender student who had recently gone through a transition. He says his religion prohibited him from treating the student with respect. On Monday, Vlaming sued school district officials for allegedly violating his right to speak freely and exercise his religion, among other claims.

2. Thieves stole some of Mahatma Gandhi's remains on what would have been his 150th birthday, police say. The ashes were taken from a memorial in central India, where they had been kept since 1948 - the year of Gandhi's assassination by a Hindu extremist. The thieves also scrawled "traitor" in green paint across photographs of the independence leader. Some Hindu hardliners view Gandhi as a traitor for his advocacy of Hindu-Muslim unity. This is despite Gandhi being a devout Hindu himself.

3. A former anti-vaxxer whose 23-year-old daughter contracted a life-threatening case of the measles is now begging other parents to vaccinate their kids despite unfounded yet widespread fears. Debbie Roscoe’s daughter, Ellie, now 25, didn’t complete the full course of inoculations because of anti-vaxx beliefs that were exploding at the time, just as they are now. When her daughter almost died from measles outside of her childhood, Debbie Roscoe chose to fight for science instead of digging in her heels on the misinformation. Her mother is now speaking out about the dangers of skipping out on vaccinations.

4. A Kansas mom forces her two autistic sons to drink a form of bleach called “Miracle Mineral Solution,” which she thinks will “cure” them, saying it’s because they “deserve relief” from their condition. Laurel Austin admitted that she regularly gives the bleach product to her two adult sons, who she claims are “vaccine-injured” but their father Brad thinks his ex is poisoning them. Laurel says their behavior is “not normal,” according to local reports. Laurel said she tried everything from specialized diets to medication — with little to no success. Then she learned about MMS.

5. A Jewish schoolboy was forced to kiss the shoe of a Muslim boy or face a vicious beating at the hands of nine other children who circled him in a park. A photograph shows a 12-year-old on his knees kissing the shoe of a Muslim boy, allegedly after a group 12 and 13-year-old's threatened him with violence. It is unclear whether the Muslim boy was forced to pose for the photo by the gang, who have so far escaped disciplinary action, The Age reported. In another instance of anti-Semitic abuse in a Melbourne school, a five-year-old boy was called a 'Jewish cockroach' and 'dirty Jew' by his classmates, who mocked his circumsized penis to such an extent that wet himself instead of using the toilet. The mother of the younger boy also revealed her heartbreak at the abuse her son suffered. 'He literally fell down on the floor and said, ''Mummy, you shouldn't love me. I'm a worthless, Jewish rodent. I'm vermin'',' she told the Australian Jewish News.

6. Edir Macedo became a Brazilian billionaire in part due to tithes he collected from the church he founded in 1977: the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. The church’s myriad scandals include child trafficking, money laundering, and flat-out theft from its poorer members. He allegedly told his daughters to skip college so they wouldn’t become smarter than their eventual husbands. Macedo said if his daughters, Cristiane and Viviane, attended college it would be too problematic. “If Cristiane were a doctor and had a high degree of knowledge and met a boy who had a low degree of knowledge, he would not be the head. She would be the head,” he said. In his speech, Macedo reportedly suggested, according to another translation from Hypeness, that a woman’s happiness is only possible through submission to a man. Sending his daughters to college does not help them to submit.

7. During the Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over on W episode, Lindsay Preston who belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her husband Mark told their son, Adam, that they believe being queer is "immoral" and acting on it violates the "moral standard" of the Mormon church. But the 17-year-old disagreed with his parents, blasting them for saying that homosexuality is a “choice”. The teen is preparing for a two-year missionary trip to Zambia where he will try to recruit new church members. However, as a result, he will have limited contact to his family. Host Dooley asked the family their views on homosexuality, and Lindsay sharply responds: “We’re not homophobic.

8. Televangelist Jim Bakker has a prediction for us: Jesus Christ is coming back to visit within a decade! That’s information he has courtesy of author Jonathan Cahn, whose books were being promoted. He said, "The reason I don’t put it on the air, this last chapter of this video, [is] because I would be drilled out of Christianity by a lot of people, because he literally says the coming of the Lord could be at this time. And it’s because he said that if he’s coming back at this timing, he said there it is, right there. And if he’s right, we don’t have much more than a decade left."

9. Right-wing Pastor Robert Jeffress, unwittingly told the truth to FOX News’ Lou Dobbs. During an otherwise unremarkable rant in which Jeffress yelled his way through typical conservative talking points (climate change is a hoax, there’s no separation of church and state in the Constitution, the Bible is banned in public schools, etc.), he talked about the impeachment inquiry and how the Christians he knew were furious about it. He said, "I have spoken to thousands of Christians, and I’m gonna tell you, I’ve never seen Christians as angry about anything as they are about the attempt to remove this president from office."

10. A Muslim convert working at the Paris police headquarters stabbed three officers and a civilian colleague to death before he was shot dead as he tried to flee. He was identified as Michael Harpon, a Martinique-born Frenchman who worked in IT. He is believed to have converted to Islam two years ago. Christophe Crépin, the spokesperson for the French police union, said it was not being treated as a terror attack but later told NBC News that the national anti-terrorism unit has been assigned to investigate whether terrorism was a motive behind the attack.
