Comedian Bill Maher Says Islam is Like No Other Religion

Bill Maher

While speaking with Charlie Rose on his television show earlier this week, progressive comic Bill Maher, who thinks all religions are stupid, made a few very blunt remarks that may offend Islamic radicals. Before the host said there are radical issues in Islam, just like there are in Christianity, Maher was criticizing Howard Dean, former Democratic presidential candidate, for trying to distance Islamic State from Islam. But, right after Rose’s comment, Maher took the liberty to set the record straight with some brutally honest remarks.

“Vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you leave the Christian religion you should be killed for it. Vast numbers of Christians do not treat women as second class citizens. Vast numbers of Christians do not believe if you draw a picture of Jesus Christ you should get killed for it,” said Maher.

Rose interrupted Maher midway to say a significant number of Christians feel that way too. Maher then continued, “No, that’s not true. Not true.”

He went on to cite a Pew poll conducted in Egypt that revealed more than 80 percent Muslims view stoning as an appropriate consequence for those who are found guilty of adultery.

“So, to claim that this religion is like other religions is just naive and plain wrong. It is not like other religions,” Maher added.
