Controversy erupted in the Netherlands after violence sparked around a Europa soccer game match between the Netherlands’s Ajax and Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv, where Israeli soccer fans were reportedly targeted, harassed, and assaulted by hordes of young people allegedly provoked by calls on social media to target Jewish and Israeli people in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.
Concerns have been raised over the Netherlands’ police force after reports emerged that some Dutch police officers are refusing to guard Jewish buildings and protect Jewish community events for ideological reasons.
A 22-year-old man was arrested for a fatal stabbing that happened in the port city of Rotterdam that left one person dead and another seriously injured. Dutch prosecutors said the man is suspected of murder and attempted murder with a terrorist motive.
A Pakistani Muslim religious leader was arrested and accused of calling for the murder of Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders, the leader of the far-right Dutch political party that won the 2023 general elections in the Netherlands, where his party, the Party for Freedom (PVV), won 37 seats in the House of Representatives.

Twitter suspended the account of a far-right Dutch politician citing violations of its rules against hateful conduct. The social media giant also deleted the tweet that triggered the suspension.
On April 19, known anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders lost access to his Twitter account. Bloomberg reported that Twitter suspended Wilders’ account after responding to a tweet from Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
