Atheism was a huge wake up call

I know Christians often reject that they brainwash children, but I myself was in that position when I was younger. When I was little, I used to believe in God because I went to a Church of England junior school. I hated it there. I ended up believing because of the never ending persistence and my suggestable mind. Also, one of my strongly Christian friends was genuinely worried that I would go to hell because I didn't believe in God (she's actually really nice, just a bit odd when it comes to religion). I prayed for a bit, but being a kid I just said things like 'I want a pony' and 'please make it snow so I don't have to go to school'. But then I realised nothing was happening (well except for that time it did snow). Then I got bored and for a long time I didn't really have any strong feelings about God. I guess I kind of wanted him to exist so I knew that there was something else after I died, which is an understandable reason to believe. But then in secondary school I learned a lot in science, which led me to research the beginning of the universe. I then found the atheist pages, at which point I realised it just doesn't make sense to believe in God. I was never brought up in a religious house, I only went to that religious school because it was closest to our house. My parents never forced any religious views on me, but that school did. I resent them for it. We were forced to sing the prayers and if we didn't, we had to sing solo in front of the ENTIRE school. Despite being proud to be a multicultural school, they forced Christianity upon every single student. Atheism was a huge wake up call, and I thank the atheist community for it. I just hope the rest of the world realises how blind they are.
