Where is everyone from?

Hi All,

Just joined, so I thought I would say hi :)

Was just wondering where everyone is from and how accepting they are of atheism in your country? What issues have you faced?

I am from the UK and haven't really faced any issues personally really, most of the issues I have are just annoyance about the way religion gets public funding and the few points where religion and state still do overlap slightly.

I have been an atheist most of my life and I just love the natural world.

So, as I am sure a few of you are American please look up the BBC Documentary Wonders of Life presented by Dr. Brian Cox - it's quite simplistic but really well shot and all the ideas are really simply broken down so you could easily want it with friends who don't have a background in natural sciences or even just watch it with your kids.

Hope you are all good.

Niagara Falls, Canada...Welcome. I have to say, I really have a healthy respect for those members who are living in different parts of the world where saying you're an Atheist could have serious consequences. Please take care of yourselves.

I'm from Nicaragua. A central american country that suffers from a lot of social imbalance. With a few people getting richer day by day and most of the population hardly getting by. Very religious but also filled with hypocrites that go to church and as soon as they leave the place they go back to acting like complete morons.

I love my country, but I would be much happier if we could populate it with more people who actually use their brains to build a better life for everyone else instead of looking for the easy way for everything. Many people in this country are happy with being able to pay their basic needs as long as they can drink on the weekends. A very pathetic lifestyle that is nothing but a cycle of mediocrity.

That is not to say that we don't have some people who are actually trying to make things better, but for the most part they are not.
