Welcome to the site Mr. Natureman!
Hi Zaphod ! I call myself Natureman because I find my spirituality in nature, much like the First Nations of America.Yes it is mythology too but It is as close that I can get to my real feelings about the natural world and the beauty that I find in it.Storytelling seems to me to be just part of our nature as humans,we all just seem to love a good story.
I to have a strong connection with nature. I find it to be both amazing and beautiful at the same time and used to dedicate a lot of my time toward care of nature. I don't do as much as I used to. but I still care greatly about the environment and the coexistence between humans and the natural order.
True, we do all love a good story :)
Hi Natureman! Glad to see I'm not the only newbie on this site :)
My mom's kinda like you in that she's quite spiritual but doesn't subscribe to an organized religion...and she's pretty much one of the only people I know who I can discuss my ideas with and not feel judged (I'm an atheist)
Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome and happy commenting!
Do you consider yourself as a Wiccan? Wiccans found spirituality in their nature even though they believe in different gods and goddesses. I'm glad you're here with us and I'm looking forward for more of the spiritual topics that you can share with us here.
Thanks guys ! Wiccan? no, not really.I am just interested in why it is that spirituality seems to be born in our DNA.
Hmmm, what makes you think this?
Very old cave paintings ,burying our dead ,universality of spirituality over time and place ,among others...At what point in our evolution did this happen and why I don't know, maybe nature wanted to take a look at how it was doing so far along the road. After 14 billion years of evolution from rock to the human brain, maybe it was just time to evolve from the automatic, biological mode to a new kind of existence. Our awareness is dependent upon where we exist on the scale from the microscopic to the macroscopic, which is only one limited point of reference. The human brain is now in existence mode which narrows our perspective just to stay alive(food in,food out)Everything that exists or ever will exist is yet to be discovered in the human brain, there is a part of all of us that has somehow has been programmed with all the secrets of our existence up until now and in the future.I believe that it is preloaded there waiting to be discovered. My spirituality comes from my belief that nature will take care of itself ,so why not just enjoy the experience of consciousness without all the drama.Cheers! Natureman.
That's really interesting, and I'd love to agree with you. I love nature, but I really study brains. It does appear that there's a lot more we could be doing with that chunk of wax than we currently are... and in addition it's doing plenty of things that we don't consciously know about. So, the idea of "pre-loaded knowledge" would be an interesting way to think of things :)
In your comment you said,"there is a part of all of us that has somehow has been programmed with all the secrets of our existence up until now and in the future.I believe that it is preloaded there waiting to be discovered", can you elaborate more on this?
hmm... information overload. Natureman can you share a general article or video on the subject?

Hello there Natureman. :)
I am also quite new to this site and would like to welcome you here too.
Interesting to read your thoughts, keep sharing. :)
About burying the dead I think it's mostly related on how we value the memories of our love ones. We tend to care for them even after they died. I must agree that even during the ancient times, the idea about god was there. It is where the mythological gods derived from. But, we can't really say that we were genetically informed that there is god. It can be possible somehow.
... historically, it's actually more about disease control than anything.
and we're not the only species that buries our dead.
It was right that even on ancient times people believe of a certain God or power. Until now there are people who believe on "nature" Gods that guide them on their daily lives such as for the abundant harvest and better weather.
