Let's say for argument sake....

that jesus of Nazareth actually lived. Despite no Roman, Greek, or official Jewish records. Let's say for argument sake that he was arrested by the Romans and crucified even though that is highly unlikely given the Romans documented every execution and there is no such record. Let's even say that instead of leaving the corpse to rot as was the usual case, the Romans allowed him to be taken down and intombed. Which by all standards of the time is virtually impossible given the fact that tombs were very much an Egyptian practice. Jews and christians and even muslims bury their dead. Also, tombs were reserved for people of honor, and since neither the Romans not the Jewish ruling in the area at the time regarded jesus important, there would be no costly tomb for him.
Romans at the time were smart. They would leave no trace of a person to be revered as a martyr. They would have burned the body and scattered the ashes.
But even if jesus was born, and he was crucified, and even intombed, there is nothing to prove he was a god or the son of a god. Nothing!
Eyewitness accounts-not credible, hearsay, not first-hand knowledge.
The bible- not credible hearsay no corroborating evidence no firsthand knowledge.
We KNOW that Mohammed existed.
We KNOW that Buddha existed.
But there is no proof either was a god or actually produced a god.
We know that Joseph Smith existed, but there is no proof that anything he preached was true. We know that L.Ron Hubbard lived, but there is no proof that anything he professed was fact.
So if jesus did live, it doesn't change a fucking thing.
Believers are having a hard time proving he even lived, let alone that he was the son of a god....that they can't prove is/was real!

That's the beautifully mind

That's the beautifully mind numbing thing about faith and leaps of faith - everything is on an "I was told so, therefore Its because I told you so" mentality that, for most, leaves no room for doubt - which is actually a healthy and necessary thing. By shutting down ones capacity to reasonably doubt from the start, religious doctrine makes its followers completely unaffected by and blind to the inescapable lack of proof.

Indeed, there is as much

Indeed, there is as much evidence for Jesus as Dionysus, mithra, Heracles or Amun Ra. But, if we conceded that there was a historical Jesus it gets us no closer to whether or not any of the stories about the character are true or whether or not an omnipotent creator of the universe exists. Even if there was such a man and he did do all kinds of extraordinary things and we could prove that he did, it does not follow, necessarily, that any of it had to do with the influence of a god. It just means that there was a great man that did great things that we can't explain. Having no explanation for something doesn't mean that you can make one up and that what you made up is true.
