I have devised 3 theories to the development of the concept of God, i would like to know yours too and whether you agree with mine or not.
1) Every person wishes for dominance over others, and power in the society. A man once claimed that there is a superpower named "God" and he is the only one who can communicate with it to fulfill the desires of the common man (unlike him). This man came to be known as Pandit, or Fathers in Churches, or similar religious heads.
2) Every human wishes for a unique identity of his own. This is the reason why linguistic division of states is still very prevalent. Similarly, to extend this concept of God, religions and its subdivisions were created. First Hinduism, Islam, Christianity; then their subdivisions like Shia, Sunni, khalsa, etc.
3) A handicapped beggar on the streets has no hope in life. The God concept serves as a messiah for such a person. It gives the beggar (or someone in a hopeless situation ) a ray of hope for survival.
But this is ray of hope is not required by most people as it leads to defeatist attitude where one doesn't feel like earning what they wish for. Hence the concept of God is complete balderdash.
.
Had the concept of God not been there, there wouldn't be organisations like ISIS. So many productive humans' life could've been saved. So much precious land, energy, resources and time could've been used efficiently.
Anyway, what are your views on the origins of the concept of God.
I would be glad to know about your views on the same.
