I asked several apologetics from different islamic forums and chatrooms about the violence in quran for the conversion and all and they told me about this verse 2:256 " there is no compulsion in religion . They also told me verses of sword are taken out of context and what it really saying is to attack(to defend) those pagan arabs who break peace treaties
Thoughts ?

Being raised in the West, I don't know that much about the Quran, but it only took me a few minutes to find this:
http://corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=9&verse=5
9:5
"Sahih International: And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
http://corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=9&verse=29
9:29
"Sahih International: Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled."
Haha Muslim apologists love that verse, but what they don't tell you is that this verse, is one of the other major contradictions in the quran.

Ibn Kathir clearly states "These Ayat allowed fighting people unless, and until, they embrace Islam and implement its rulings and obligations"
The apologists are the ones taking it out of context.
