In Egypt the pharaohs, were considered as gods and they wore pointy hats like that or similar.
It is just tradition that indicates a superior being.

Then later "gods" or pharaohs just kept the tradition to not appear lesser then the previous pharaohs.
Why theists should not claim that god is objective and does not change his mind.
