I understand where you're

I understand where you're coming from, but you keep saying things like

"My point isn't to scramble your thread here into something you weren't trying to expose"

I have nothing to expose. The only thing hidden with me here is behind the sunglasses emoji in my avatar. If you're suggesting that I have some conflict of conviction then gee whiz man, I don't know what to tell you to covince you otherwise and honestly I don't really care to. If my language here makes me seem so, then so be it. Words are words. I'm an Atheist on and off the record.

These were just the thoughts of the high school me just in case you didn't read that part.

As for all other points.. you're welcome to make those assessments. Thanks for the feedback.

If anybody here wants to

If anybody here wants to accuse me of being a believer. The burden of proof is on YOU. Prove it. Quote me on something. There are a lot of posts to choose from by now.

Otherwise don't come to me with that bullshit

Why can't there be freedom of

Why can't there be freedom of no religion.
A place where atheist are more focused on this life this world and its possibities. Christians waste so much time focusing on the unseen and unknown. I think an atheist state or island is a right that atheist should have someday. Think of how much quicker discoveries and inventions will occur without god wasting our time.

Hah, the crazy conspiracy

Hah, the crazy conspiracy theory theist would start calling us vampires, or martians, or vampire martians.

I am surprisingly okay with that.

You'd actually want more gravity for that, not less :}

Heh, it might be really funny to review some of that material. But I'm guessing you don't have it anymore?

But yeah, a person sleeping on a top bunk experiences more time compared to a sleeper on the bottom bunk. But it isn't enough to shake a stick at.

Woah, thanks for sharing. I truly salute you for being able to at one point put that all aside.

LogicForTW,

LogicForTW,
You are very kind. Im hoping to identify this shit and put it behind me. My daughter wants to here stories at night from when I was little but my memories of those times are cloudy. Ive mastered the skills of blocking everything out and focusing on Jesus and eternal life. Now that that is not my mission I realize that I'm an adult and I need to not blame anything but myself for where I end up. Should've done this years ago but its all good. thanks for your sweetness.

Hey, you seem to say an

Hey, you seem to say an atheist state cannot exist.

But what about the USSR?

Despite the personality cult it was pretty much an atheist state. After Stalin the personality cult died out too.

In the end, this reminds me of your concerns.

How can you have an atheist state that doesn't discriminate against theists?

Well you can't haha. The whole point of the atheist state is to crush the church and promote atheism over theism.

Even if the state was democratic in almost all aspects there wouldn't be freedom of religion if this was a truly atheist state.

Though you could argue some countries in the past with a state religion allowed other forms of theism.

So technically an atheist state could allow for theism to exist within its borders.

However it would constantly be under attack by the theists influences and their political aims.

I hope our atheist state

I hope our atheist state would not try to ban or persecute religions like a totalitarian communist state. They thrive on martyrdom.

All that's needed is to deprive religions of any influence in government and cut off the unfair benefits that they gain from their cosy relationships with the political establishment, such as tax exemption. If churches had to survive without any kind of state support or favoritism, they'd soon wither and die, and their priests and pastors would drift into more respectable professions, like drug dealing and pornography. (After all, religion is nothing but a mental drug and spiritual porn.)

After all the religions have died out in our atheist state, can we turn our attention to to the legal profession?

"All that's needed is to

"All that's needed is to deprive religions of any influence in government and cut off the unfair benefits that they gain from their cosy relationships with the political establishment"

Well the best way to do that isn't through democracy at all hahaha. As soon as there will be religious people among the electorate the cozy relationship between religion and political establishment will become inevitable in the long term.

Whether you guys like it or not you have to realize that if you want an atheist state you can't have religious tolerance.

Unless you think a secular state is an atheist state. But I was under the assumption that the atheist state we are talking about is free of religion as in, there is no more religious political involvement, which requires the end of the churches' influence over the people and an overwhelming atheist population.

I feel it is possible to have

I feel it is possible to have tolerance without it succumbing to the outside influences and religious involvement in the state.

I also think that if a state/island started off atheist, it would not go theist. I strongly believe outside of theist influence, nearly everyone would be atheist or agnostic. The wild and crazy stories that are the various religious books, would stay just that. You will always have a few people that are deeply susceptible to forming stories to hide from whatever reality they want to hide from but they would remain in the minority, especially with a strong school system that takes advantage of all the information science has to offer, and teaches critical thinking.

Rock solid laws that defend everyone's rights. When a religion is granted special rights and privileges, that is infringement on everyone else's rights.

I feel the US bill of rights could be a fairly good starting point. Just cleaned up some.

When a religion says "a human life begins at fertilization" that is infringement on the right of the mother that does not believe that. I think it would be much easier to draw the line at "human rights" at the point the baby is viable without the mother. Pretty easy, clear line, defined by science. The baby's rights never supersedes the mothers.

Beyond the definition of life, any other "religious" rights that impinge on others rights are easily and summarily dismissed. People are free to believe whatever they want to believe in the privacy of their own home, if they act in a manner that does not affect others.

That is exactly where I was coming from. Thank you for painting a clearer pic LogicForTW.
