Because that's less

Because that's less marketable, and George Lucas has never been much for making sense over making money?

The only explain they gave

The only explain they gave was that the armor absorb the heat and shock just enough to KO whoever wear it .
But i haven't seen someone KO when theirs stomach or chest was punched .

@Kanpfer Re: Storm Trooper armor

Actually, you can KO somebody with a hard enough knock to the chest, even with a fist punch If you hit the right spot hard enough. Still, one would think that the armor Storm Troopers wear would be specifically designed to thwart a laser blast from the common laser pistol and/or shoulder rifle. (Especially in that super-advanced technology world.) From what I have seen in the movies, though, the laser blast punches through the armor as if it were nothing more than a t-shirt. Dead troopers are scattered around everywhere after a battle. For that matter, even a conk on the noggin by a cute little Ewok using a wooden stick seems to totally incapacitate a highly armored Storm Trooper. Granted, the uniform looks super-awesome. Just doesn't seem very functional.

YES! Isn't that from the movie "Barbarella"? I remember seeing something like that in the movie when I was a kid. I admit I didn't exactly understand what it was at the time, but I do remember it gave me an unexplained tingly feeling in my nether regions. *giggle*
Hmmm... I think I may have even seen one for sale on Amazon recently. (Not that I was looking to buy one or anything... *whistle-whistle-whistle*)

I'd always wanted a holodeck

I'd always wanted a holodeck from Star Trek:TNG. Be so useful from so many stand point. Martial arts training, education, entertainment. Sadly I do believe that a working holodeck as depicted in TNG is impossible.

A Tardis would be nice too

Ooooo... Yep, I have always been a fan of the holodeck. Interestingly enough, we really aren't all that far removed from the possibility on one, truth be known. The VR technology has advanced rapidly recently. Who knows? May not be too long before we get something at least close to one, at least. Check out the Star Trek book and the Ready Player One book I mentioned in the OP. Insightful stuff.
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with a Tardis. What is that?

T.A.R.D.I.S Time And Relative

T.A.R.D.I.S Time And Relative Dimension In Space. It is from a long running British Sci-Fi called Doctor Who. It is a time ship made by an alien race called the Timelords. The show centres around "The Doctor" who stole his Tardis and wonders through time and space thwarting and spoiling evil where he find it, which is highly illegal by his people's laws. Tardises have Chameleon circuits which are disguises them to blend in with their surroundings, however the The Doctor's Tardis's Chameleon curcuit vroke in the very first episode way back in 1963 and it is stuck as a Police Telephone Box. It is dimentionally transcendental which means it is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. I don't think it has ever been defined exactly how big it is on the inside but I suspect (being the nerdy "Whovian" that I am) it is 13 square miles.

When the Doctor dies, he regenerates and every cell in his body changes

@Agnos Re: TARDIS

Ah. Dr. Who. I vaguely remember watching Dr. Who for awhile when I was about twelve years old, so I do not remember very much about the show. Come to think of it, I barely remember what show(s) I may have watched yesterday, for that matter. (Damn Scarecrow.) Considering it was over thirty five years ago, I am amazed I even remember watching Dr. Who at all. lol Still, the TARDIS sounds really cool. Just not sure I would enjoy the whole cell/body change every time.

I think they should invent

I think they should invent something so we could watch church services at home instead of havin to go to the car. They won't let me take my beer into the church service and them pews ain't as comfy as a couch.

Yeah, what's up with THAT? The priests can have their wine, but we can't enjoy a beer during services? And what's wrong with having soft cushy recliners for everybody? Imagine how much nicer the naps would be during the sermons. *Zzzzzzzz-zzzzz-zzzz...*

Hey! I got it! Perhaps one

Hey! I got it! Perhaps one day soon the holodeck technology will be available and we can all go to holodeck church services. That way each individual attending would be able to customize his/her own seating arrangements and snack/goodie preferences. Fun for all!

I'd like the perspective gun

I'd like the perspective gun from the movie adaptation of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the book was so much better though).

Books are always better. You should read about the battle suits of the Mobile Infantry in "Starship Troopers." While the movie was very entertaining in its own right, the book is far, far better. About the only resemblance between the movie and book, however, is basically the name of the main character and the fact they were fighting arachnid type aliens. Otherwise, they are almost two totally different stories. Robert A. Heinlein, in case you are interested.

A recent series I read called

A recent series I read called The Beam pairs nanotechnology with AI in very interesting ways. Think facebook meets skynet meets the matrix.

Humans can have just about any modifications to their body imaginable (if they have the money to pay for it), the AI network is ubiquitous everywhere and literally everything everywhere people go is automatically customized to them. Like a roaming profile on a MS Windows server.

I think my favorite tech from the book was a security weapon. Basically it was an AI controlled cloud of flying spiky balls. Could be set to target... whoever. Literally decimated a room in seconds, except the guy controlling it of course. Then they all flew back and stacked themselves in the little box he took them out of.
