Hi everybody

Well, I don't know if this is the norm but I just joined the forums so I figured I would introduce myself. My name is Michael and I live in Georgia, USA, so it is really difficult for me to find other atheists outside my family. For the most part, people don't know I am an atheist unless I actually tell them, apparently being nice and helping others isn't very atheist of me =(. I am currently in college for a four year degree in Criminal Justice, hopefully make it as a federal agent one day. Well, I am no good at introductions but I gave it my best. Catch you later, peeps.

Hello Mr. Orr, and welcome

Hello Mr. Orr, and welcome to the forums.

I am always being nice and helping others I am an atheist. I of course do have the ability to be mean to others as well I enjoy doing charity work I believe makes a difference and does not try to use the work to influence the people it is otherwise helping. I often find there is some ulterior purpose to what poses as charity.

Interesting that you want to be a federal agent, what type of work do you think you want to do for the fed?

Well, ultimately, I hope to

Well, ultimately, I hope to be an FBI agent. I agree, I think a lot of charities serve another purpose, I remember a friend of mine's church going to Africa and they were bringing tons of bibles along with water filters and all I could think was "Y'know, if you leave the bibles you could take more filters." =/

Hi Michael,

Hi Michael,
Welcome!
Criminal Justice is a great field! Was in it for ~10 years. Was sad when I had to leave it. The one piece of advice I offer to those working in the field, is to pay close attention to your humanity. It is a field in which it can slip slowly away, without a lot of notice. Be diligent in your maintenance of it. Being atheist may make it easier to maintain. Dogma and righteousness sometimes get in its way.

There is a Federal Law

There is a Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in my town, I have met quite a few federal agents. They all said pretty much the same thing; law enforcement often has you facing some of the worst our society has to offer. Only way to stay sane is to remember all the good it can offer too. If you don't mind me asking, what type of work did you do?

Late reply is late,

Late reply is late, probability tests require a lot of memorizing rules/formulas =/. Anyway, let me just say thank you for your service to the community.
