first, welcome. second, as a former pastor in a charismatic church for years and only walking a way a few years ago i'd like to say that you either need to check the anger (not intended as a judgement, just an observation from years of those kind of convos) or just don't engage at all. this is how i see it...
there's simple logic and analysis which leads some towards the rejection of a diety and that's nice when it happens like that but i've found it to be fuckin rare.
and then on the b-side you've got christian (or whatever make believe religion) logic and analysis.
i actually count myself lucky in this regard as i refuse to let myself forget what it's like to live on the b-side. i can still 'go there' if you follow me. it's a scary thing to let go of what needs to go when you've been told your whole life (i was brainwashed from day one) that if you don't believe 'a-b-c' then you will burn for fucking eternity...well, it's a bummer to say the least. so on the base level i think we're at war with fear, not irrationality or ignorance or whatever. fear greases the wheel of faith and it's what keeps the cash-cow rollin. it's rarely easy to have those conversations, especially with family & friends (my wife of 12 years is still a devout xian) but if you find a way to have 'em in a way that engages but doesn't enrage then you might see a little more progress or at least a potential cohabitation. best of luck man and keep the 'A'.
