Greetings to you all! I've lurked around here for sometime but never made an attempt to be active but I thought I'd start engaging with you wonderful people. Just wanted to make a quick little introduction and say hello. I'm 27, soon to be 28 in the coming weeks and I hail from the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean (you probably have heard of us at some point in relation to stealing everyone's taxes). I started wandering down the path of Atheism when I was about 23. For those who don't know, my country is quite conservative and is considered a Christian nation. I've come out to a few family members, including my mother, most of which are in total disagreement with me though very accepting. As a result of all of this, I don't have many people I can engage with openly and not many like-minded friends. So it's my hope to take part in the community, meet good people, discuss ideas and hopefully make a few friends along the way. So once again, greeting to you all :)

"I've come out to a few family members, including my mother,.." Well done. A pity that telling the truth is a matter of 'coming out' for some of us.
"...most of [whom] are in total disagreement with me..." Give them time. The most important thing is: "..[they are] very accepting."
If you do run into any problems, keep in mind that most Christians accept that belief in god should be entirely voluntary and not due to any pressure or discrimination. I hope all your folks are happier and proud that you can be honest and open with each other. Some religionists are far less tolerant.
