He donated his body to science
To gain the knowledge that we lack
We will find a place for this Epitaph
Whenever we get him back

Not sure if I'm going to have

Not sure if I'm going to have a tombstone. My plan for my death is to have my ashes compressed into a diamond, so I can say that at least some small part of me will see the heat death of the universe. If I do have any kind of thing buried, it'll be a tungsten disc of some kind that will contain the sum knowledge of humankind up to that point. That way archaeologists can get something useful if they ever dig 'me' up.

I wasn't
I was
I wasn't again.

I plan to be cremated and

I plan to be cremated and then have my cremains incorporated into one of those "eternal reefs" that are then deposited in deep water off the coast to provide new habitat for marine species and fish. As for an epitaph, current contenders include "(Alembe) sleeps with the fishes" and "I'm only here for the shrimp."

I don't abide with tombstone

I don't abide with tombstone or any markers of death. Maybe when I expire I could be laid out for scavengers to eat. At least I will have some purpose by providing food for creatures. Don't like sayings or poems to denote a past life. It seems condescending. "Here I lie dead remember me. I leave this cliche saying that should fill your mind of the world had been a better place that my life form had existed." I hate monuments. We go to them and stare at them as if we knew the people and are somehow a greater person because we went there. I understand that people mourn the dead. They need closure. They miss the company of those who have passed whatever the cause of their death. For my loved ones, I think enough that they had known me. I don't want to remind them, because I will be dead and can enjoy them remembering me.

From the absence of knowledge

From the absence of knowledge I came to the absence of knowledge I will go. What happens between those two portals is not of my concern.

While studying a bit of roman

While studying a bit of roman history I came across a quote (one that is widely known I am sure) from a roman tombstone, which I thought was very beautiful. I'd like it to be in my tombstone. It went something like this:

Traveler, do not pass my tombstone but stop, listen and leave wiser. There is no boat in Hades, no ferryman Charon, no gatekeeper Aiakos and no dog Cherberos. We who are dead are but ash and bone, nothing else.
